    Hey everyone,

I want to buy an A8Js, but I don't know if I should wait for Windows Vista to come out in Jan. Do you guys think that ASUS will replace the A8J with another model by then?

Do you guys think I should wait until Jan to buy one? I really don't want to wait, but I figure it's just easier to buy a laptop with Vista already installed instead of bringing it back and installing a new OS once I install XP..

Last question, I know ASUS prices don't drop much, but is it likely that the price of the A8J will drop by Jan?

    Thanks very much in advance!

    well...
the longer you wait the more hardware time you give up.

The a8js may come with vista installed sometime but you lost a month of the c2duo and 7700 being top of the line....

and vista is free anyway if you buy now.

I dont think the hardware on the a8j series will change greatly until around april of next year.

So I think there will be cpu changes and hard drive improvements but probably months off.
When the santa rosa chipset comes out, it will need a whole new mothboard.

So anyhow in short i dont think its going to help you to wait a month if thats your time frame. Youll get the same a8js with vista installed at best.
And you might not like that to be honest.
the average user is going to find vista is about the same as xp, only running it makes everything about 10 20% slower.

Wow! Thanks very much for the quick and very informative response, I'm glad I stumbled upon these forums. I'll take your response into consideration, I'm just reading into the Santa Rosa thing, thanks again!

I actually think to buy a computer that has xp pro AND vista upgrade is the best software deal.

That is two operating systems for one. I think you will use them both for a while as well.
