Alright, I have no idea if this is possible, but here goes.

I'm getting fed up with my G1s' screen, it's rather grainy and doesn't output all the colours I'd like. Several of my friends have new Macbook Pros, and their screens are very clear and sharp. Would it be possible for me to order a macbook pro screen off ebay and replace my current screen? I have no idea of the connections required, or if it would even fit. Thanks :)

Well, my screen has always been like this. Also, the macbook pros all come with the same 8600m GT DDR3 that my G1s does.

I don't know about the screen, but there was a certain type of graininess that was not a hardware problem, but solvable with a BIOS update. So maybe you should check that you are running the latest BIOS, and a recent GPU driver version, just to be on the safe side.

I've been reading about that a lot, I've got the stock 202 bios. Should upgrading to the new 300 bios fix my problem? Thanks :)

Edit: Frig, I hate Asus' website. You'd think they could at least afford some decent bandwidth.

You should at least try the BIOS fix. See how the screen looks afterwards.

Okay, I updated the bios to 300, but the screen is still silky. Any suggestions?

My G1S is the same. I have tried every bios revision upon release and many many driver revisions. It may be fixable with a bios update but I doubt it will be because the G1S is now a discontinued model.

Honestly I don't think it is worth replacing the screen. I recommend selling your G1S and buying a MacBook Pro if you really like them.

    A semi-work around is to...

    a) Uninstall Asus Splendid (If you have it installed)
    b) In nVidia set gamma to 0%, brightness to 50% and contrast to 50%

The grain will be less noticeable. You may have to tweak these settings a little to find a combo that you are most comfortable with.
