I got that from the guys at AMD today after calling them well pissed off about this GSOD crap that's keeping us from being able to update our 5870m drivers. They said call up ATI directly and report it, and see what they say.

Now, I have no idea how many people have actually reported the GSOD to ATI directly, but the fact that their CCC drivers that they keep putting out keeps causing it with every single itteration of them since.. what was it, the 10.4's? means that we need to pretty much spam the outta them and tell them is going on.

I don't think any of us are happy with paying nearly $1700 for 0 driver support on a GAMING laptop, so we need to do something about it.

I say we make an official spam the outta ATI post and get everyone with a G73JH on this site that's delt with the GSOD to call em and tell em to fix their already.

Anyone else wanna? Because I know im callin em on monday for sure, lol.

I'm trying to see if BTO as a company will report the issue to ATI directly also. They've managed to re-create the GSOD in testing after I pointed it out to them well having my personal battle with it, and then said to just stick to the asus drivers, lol.
I dunno tho, maybe they'll help report it and get something done to fix it.

This has been discussed at length and the ATI drivers are perfectly fine. The newer 10.5+ ones work on all other notebooks with mob. 5870.
The culprit for the GSOD issues on the G73JH is solely Asus whose vBios is causing problems and theyve already admitted this and well have to wait and see if theyre capable of putting together a good one or not (the beta failed at solving the problems). Try flashing the MSI or Clevo vBios onto your machine and youll see youll get no more GSODs, but you will loose HDMI and VGA with that vBios since it wasnt made for our laptops.
Go into the gaming subsection where you should post G73JH related threads anyway and youll see many threads on this there.

And i have written to ATI directly over a month ago and posted their email responses so youre a bit late with this.

Well then, looks like I am, lol.

Could you link me to where asus admitted this?

Please post G series related threads in the Gaming subsection from now on. Youll get more responses and help there.

Will do. I figured G series = asus section, but I guess things have changed a tad, lol.
Oh well! I definitely like what im seeing from that gary guy tho. The fix may not be done yet, but atleast it's far along enough so that it's hit a beta vbios already.
Things are lookin up compared to before!

Read the whole thread. The beta vBios didnt solve anything and the same thing was happening with the W90 and an official vBios update was released that didnt fix their GSOD issues and theyre still stuck with stock drivers.
Just dont get your hopes up so fast. Im not saying it wont happen, but considering Asus past behaviour i wouldnt be so sure it will either.

The W90 was much more expensive laptop and less people had it then the G73JH :)

It was also very much in demand and also the cheapest crossfire 4870 laptop around at that time and it had the same problems. Of course it was more expensive since it had crossfire, more ports and features (like esata, tv-tuner...), brushed alluminium chasis... You have to compare price with what you get in mind thats what i keep telling you.
