Hello. I have not made a video on the recent while so i thought to my self "instead of making video of stuff that I think deserves to be made perhaps i should ask the people." So people what video would you like? Name it and i will put up a poll. it can be any asus model 360 degree view or something like removing the keyboard, installing bluetooth, or even upgrading the lcd or cpu. I would like the foreigners to keep in mind that i will probably not consider any foreign models that are not popular in the USA. Models that will not be considered also include, f3, a9, a6, g2, w2, v, z84 or any model prior to core duo. If i see a repeating request then i will try it. If not then i guess this is a pointless mission and i will just proceed to make videos of stuff that i like. to get a full list of current videos click here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=69841

Excellent Idea and thanks for the offer! I'd like to see a CPU upgrade on a W3J. I love my W3, and would much rather upgrade it in the future as opposed to getting a different laptop (at least that's my current feeling). So a CPU upgrade video would be excellent!

Thanks in advance for the consideration,

    Adam

How to upgrade RAM. I'd like to know exactly where the DIMM slot under the keyboard is (even a picture with the slot circled would do).

Here you go: I found the pic on the web, and its in french (I think) but it's accurate. Where it says "Emplacement RAM" in green is pointing to a little metal tray covering the RAM slot under the keyboard. Just slide that out by pulling to the left, and it comes right off, revealing the RAM beneath it. There is a FAQ in the forum to explain exactly how to remove the keyboard and it's extremely simple - unscrew the screws marked "K" underneath the laptop, and then use a credit card or similar card to push down clips around Esc-F1-F2, F5-F6, F9-F10-F11, and PrtSc-Ins and the keyboard will pop up and out towards you. These clips are circled in red along the top of the picture

Edit: Sorry, The original link I used didn't work, so I uploaded the pic instead.

Would it be a lot to ask for a full de-construction of the A8 series (like...past the harddrive, memory, keyboard)

that one i like, not bad keep em comming. i will add this as one of the future projects.
not bad however such a manual already is out. i have seen it posted on this forum. here is another link http://btotech.com/store/products/laptops/ensemble/a8j/a8j.pdf
doing a video of this is not needed. the manual is fairly self explanatory

I'm contemplating adding another stick on ram to my W3J. A video of how it's done will help alleviate some of my worries. Although I guess the process is pretty straight forward.

I'd still love seeing it in live action!

    Thanks BTO dude.

For whatever it's worth, the RAM and HDD installs are really pretty straight forward - I just did it last weekend. If it'd be helpful, I'd be happy to make a video of RAM and HDD install this weekend if it helps the chances of getting a W3J processor upgrade video! :) Just offering 'cause I dont know if it would help the chances by lightening the load, so to speak. Also, I haven't watched the other model's videos, but the RAM installations should be similar. Let me know what you think Eddie and again, if it works out I'll make the video this weekend, I'll just need a way to post it.

Z84J is easily access and easy to figure out how to put the component parts together. But The onlything is I don't know how to open the piece of plastic on the front of my keyboard to find out why my power button doesnt' work. I just need pix and where to insert the screw driver in order to open that part up. Thanks.

Oh 1 more thing is I'd like to put some cardboardpaper under my keyboard to fix the flex. I remember 1 Asus G1 owner did it.

That is exactly what I was going to ask for. I know a few guys have replaced their screens and there are many of us (A8J owners) that would like to. Also, the wireless upgrade is something I would be interested in doing in the future.

a8js comes with wxga+ which is the highest for 14". i think you are asking about the a8jm which is wxga. you can swap for higher as long as the data cable supports it. I have not tested nor will i be testing a8jm for support of a higher res screen. a8js is the mainstream notebook sold by most dealer in north america. a8jm is old news. a8jp sold by newegg only

Add another vote for the 802.11n upgrade. I think this will become very popular once the non-draft N components are released. I'd like to know how to do it on my G1, although it would probably be similar for most laptops.

I'd like to upgrade the hard drive in my S6F, but that seems like a pretty daunting task considering its size. Is there enough interest to produce a video for this feat? Thanks.

Not at all. look on the bottom for the hard drive compartment. should be denoted by a spinning cylinder. take the screws out and there is your drive.

If I may request a small video on how to replace the keyboard on the A8 series, and /or tips on how to reduce keyboard flex. ASUS sent me a replacement keyboard a while back, and I ended up never using it. I could only lift the keyboard about a third of the way up, and I gave up because th bottom part of the kb just wouldn't budge!

I ended up fixing the flex by lifting up the keyboard off the plate underneath about 20 degrees from the top, and wedging 2 inches of thick double sided tape between the keyboard and the metal base underneath right where I was experiencing the flex, and popping the original kb back in. Voila! Problem solved so far *knocks on wood* but I'd really like to get in there and fix it properly without destroying my nb :(

I know you said no requests for F3J, But I woud like to see how to install a bluetooth module for the F3J.

Processor upgrade for W3J would be nice even though the duo core 2 processors are still expensive, can you sawp the W3J screen for one of higher resolution? that would also be nice.

What is wrong with the F3 series then for you to refuse to sell it?

Well in that case can i request a RAM upgrade video on ANY 15.4" ASUS model, because i am quite sure the mechanism itself must be quite similar across the board.
