I was looking at Gentech b/c they have the lowest price on the W3J and you have to agree to " Non-Refundable, Support and Exchange direct from Manufacturer"
What does that mean? Is Gentech the manufacturer since I'm getting an extra gig put in? Would I be dealing with Gentech or Asus if something was wrong and I needed to exchange? Is this basically the same thing for all resellers but Gentech just makes you agree to it? Thanks

no if gentech puts a gig into it the warranty should switch to gentech's..this goes for startech as well who also customizes ensembles

Pretty much, ASUS has a 'rule' which is written down, that if, in any way, an ENSEMBLE unit(such as the W3) is in any way modified, the warrantee will be void - however, it may not always be strictly enforced.

Best to email them and ask.

That means that they won't accept a return on the ensembles....... 95% of dealers actually do this because they don't stock the units and order them on a case by case basis.... The only place you can return an ensemble is probably to the companies of the handful of us that you'll find on this forum... I'm speaking for my company, but I'm fairly certain others have a similar policy with a restocking fee.

If they add anything to the unit, technically the warranty is supposed to become theirs, but if you agree to the wording of that then technically they don't have to support to you........ I mean, legally I think that's all they need to tell you your support isn't going to be through them. Now, Asus doesn't need to support or warranty you in that situation, but the agreement you're making that has nothing to do with Asus voiding your warranty because someone upgraded your system. It could be just a matter of every ensemble sale gets that particular pop-up, but strictly enforced or not, through Asus or the company you're buying from..... you are agreeing to that statement and it's widely known that the ensembles must be sold sealed box / stock or the dealer voids the warranty and must then pick up any warranty work.
