Well I ended up RMA'ing my G73 about a week ago due to dust being in the LCD. Now I started thinking, I had the better LG screen so what do I do if they replace it with the inferior AU screen?![]()

Highly doubtful they'll actually hunt down a particular brand of LCD just for you. Especially since it's not advertised anywhere that they use LG screens, hence they are not legally liable to do it for you.
For Asus, a screen is a screen, and they'll buy from the manufacturer with the best price.
Now if you can prove the Au screen fails to live up to posted specs, then that's another story.
Hopefully you'll just get a LG. -
Just hope they don't replace it with a lower spec, lower resolution screen like they did with mine... It took a hard conversation to tell them there paperwork was wrong and the screen in the laptop wasn't the same as what was replaced. However your best bet is to see what they replace it with and contact them if its an in-superior screen. Note IN-SUPERIOR to the rep
I would normally suggest contacting them before they send it back. But knowing Asus Support as I do, its a waste of time...you could try, but don't expect the customer service rep to get a response from there service center -
Well I went to Bestbuy (since thats where I bought it) and they sent it out for me. So what should I do as I have no clue as to where they sent it to.

You'll need to contact BestBuy, who should contact Asus on your behalf... Alternatively ask them for the RMA number and contact Asus (on 1-(888) 678-3688). Also BestBuy might be the only people who can contact Asus for the RMA or there might be an additional level of communication between them so BestBuy might just update the case quickly and easily.
Again you'll need to contact BestBuy first, if your looking towards telling them about your worries. -
Have you got your laptop back? How did it go?

So my Asus G73 broke awhile back and heres my rant
-Brought Back Asus G73 To BB due to LCD Issues. They sent it in for repair
-Waited 2 weeks then they called me and said they couldn't find replacement parts for the LCD so I came to look if i could get another. They didn't have any instore so they ordered me a new one.
-Waited 2 weeks. I got a call, they told me to come pick it up. I went in and the version they ordered had an AU screen so I declined. They gave me a giftcard. So I went home and shopped around and ordered a new G73 from Best Buy again this time shipping to my house.
-Waited a week. It came in, had 1 dead pixel and was AU. I returned it. Demanded my full money back. They said they can't do that at a store level. I called corporate. (One phone for an hour and a half BTW) and the guy said I could get a full refund but I would have to go back to the store.
-Went back to the store, got a full refund went home and ordered an Alienware M15x off Dell outlet.
My experience was horrible.
1 - Every time I went to Best Buy I was there for at least an Hour each time, sometimes 2 hours.
2 - Service was horrible. I felt like I was the Bad guy when I went there. Some of the employees would pop jokes that were pretty much aimed at me such as "If I see you again I swear I will cry and yell at you". It mad me so uncomfortable. -
Keep in mind that this is the same company that has a service department call the Geek Squad, enough said. They have consultants that charge $100 to plan a home theater, only they're useless and then offer a rebate of $100 that can only be spent in Magnolia, and not Best Buy as a whole. They send you limited time rewards card information and when you go to use it before it expires they won't honor it. They tell you that they will beat any brick and mortar price and when you show them a good deal elsewhere at a brick and mortar, they say their Manager won't approve of selling it that low. Speaking of which, they have Managers that would rather lose a long time customer, than make good on what an employee wrongly said. They have employees that huddle in groups of three bad mouthing previous customers, while you stand there listening to it waiting for your turn to ask for help.
I won't step into our local Best Buy ever again. Having said that and nothing against your Alienware purchase, I think if you had taken all that energy you spent you would probably be a happy G73 owner having spent your money with GenTechPC or one of the other resellers here in the forums. It's a moot point now, just saying. -

Wow!! That's pretty lame.....at least you got your money back in full.
-
I guess what really got me mad at Asus was why make the same G73 with 2 different LCD's. Its like saying my money isn't as good as the next's guys! Thats my beef with them. Other than that I have a G60VX and an A8Js I love to death!

I found something out the other day... Asus Repair Facility don't stock the same products as BestBuy, Amazon, Newegg or any other supplier. Interestingly I was told by one of there more educated Head Quarters departments that there products/parts are usually superior than the likes of BestBuy and Amazon. Obviously its not always the case, or was I been lead up the garden path. But it may explain why Asus isn't consistent with there parts/products.

I guess shizdan will now haunt the Alienware forum and is Dell's problem child.
If you don't mind me saying, you knew the Best Buy edition you were picking out was $400-500 cheaper than the reseller editions, but you are surprised that the models had quality shortcuts. How did you think they made up for the cheaper price? Even at $1600 the unit is a great value for the money, so at $1200 you knew they had to lower the quality of the components. -
Well I'm def not idiot with computers. I have been overclocking and building them for 6 years plus. The shortcuts I believe they took were 6GB from 8GB ram. 500GB from 1TB. 1600x900 from 1920x1080.I know what I'm talking about so the problem child comment is not necessary. I told my experience with Best Buy to forewarn others about their computers. My main informative side is with desktops. So please don't insult me through a petty forum my friend. If I took it the wrong way, I am sorry for being mistaken.

Sorry if you took it that way, it was merely a jest and a critique.
