    Hello,
    I have 2 questions actually.
First is as the above title states how do i remove the back cover safely to get access to the msata slot and the second ram slot.
it's sad that the msata on this is only support half size :(
    any second
I installed windows 7 on the 24gb msata and windows 8.1 on the hard drive. I got most of the drivers from the asus website for 7 and 8.1 But i am wondering is there a OSD drive/software for 8.1 because there was for 7 and it looked really nice but can't seem to find it for 8.1

    Thanks in advance.

Just to confirm as well i believe this laptop should support 16gb of ram as well right?

Be careful with running off the 24GB drive directly as it was not really designed to be a primary drive itself.

    Hello MalayZN.

Have you tried removing the back cover? I ask as I also have the same laptop...

Acording to the Asus website, this model only supports up to 8GB of ram, probably configured as 2x4GB slots. I can't tell you for sure if it supports more as I don't have any 8GB memory modules to try out.

    Have a look here: Notebooks & Ultrabooks - S46CM

On a side note; what do you mean by the msata only being half size?

The mSATA slot it designed to take cards the same size as modern wifi cards (half height) where as most standard drives are full length (to fit more chips on).

    So far so good.
I only use it for work and it seems fine no issues.

The laptop says 8gb but pretty sure it can handle 16gb.
I guess i will test it later on when i try with maybe a 1 8gb stick in the slot that has easy access.
I can't believe asus made a stupid design where to get full access you need to take off the whole bottom.
i have not taken it off yet because i don't want to break anything without some sort of guide.

The RAM banks should be under the small compartment at the opposite end of the battery. There are two screws that hold it in place; at least from what I've seen in a video, there are memory banks under that cover.

If you use it for work please make sure you have appropriate backups.

MalayZN, have you tried the 8GB memory modules? Do they work on the laptop? It would be so cool! :)
