Hey I was just browsing the proportable website, and I realized that they are no longer selling the S5N...
Are they now being phased out due to the W5a? Or are they just temporarily out of stock and being upgraded to a Sonoma platform?

The s5 and the w1 will be upgraded to sonoma by summer. I believe that the US office is waiting for this upgrade to happen rather than bring in current models and be stuck with them. The White S5 will be back.
The last shipment of S5's came in black by mistake. There are some Black S5's still in inventory. I beleive that is all that is currently available in the US unless some whites are in some dealers stores.

Right Bill..... the important thing to mention is that all current models ... s5/w1/m3/m6/m5 won't be refreshed until after all of the new models arrive. Since the W2 is really the last new model to be coming in..... and that is still set for mid to late May...... we may be looking at late May for new S5/W1's.... Hopefully it'll be earlier, but Asus's plan was to clear out current inventory, while the new notebooks came in and then order the new s5/m5... etc. The problem was, like Bill said, the last S5 shipment came in and it was black instead of white. Asus wanted to continue the rebate promotions but Taiwan wouldn't let them run the rebates on the black models. Afterall... all of the white S5's turned out to go faster than anyone expected because of the promotions and I think it caught them off guard. The few black S5's still sold ... after all there were plenty of people who rather black over white.
But as it stands... aside from a tv tuner upgrade to the W1....... both the s5 and w1 are basically going to be identical with the exception of the updated chipset.
Thanks,
Justin

The new S5's/M5's will probably be worth waiting for if you are still considering something small and portable Aurora. Yesterday evening I fell even more deeply in love with my S5 when I took it outside with me to help plot my garden for the spring! I had a wireless connection still so I could browse gardening sites and use Photoshop to start mapping the garden out and I worked on my To Do checklist in Word. It was awesome. I love this computer and if you can handle integrated graphics and fewer bells and whistles, it sure is a great thing to have around. It's lighter than some of my gardening books! I just love how much freedom and creativity are available to me having this small portable with me wherever I go.
I'm having loads of fun with it, I must say.

I doubt it.. because the color shine screens are only going to be used on the ensemble models...... I don't think they are going to put it on the S5 though... but certainly not the M5.
Thanks,
