Does anyone know where I could still find a W5A?

Also...I just saw an S5N...I really liked the keyboard...that wouldn't be transferrable to the W5A would it?

    Thanks alot

Look at the asus where to buy page on www.asus.com
You will find a big list of resellers some of which can not get the w5a anymore as it is discontinued.

yeah sorry, I did mean S5A...it has a sort of translucent keyboard that can glow...

I'll take a look at that list of resellers thanks.

So now that I have the right name (s5a) does anybody know is that keyboard switch would be possible?

The S5's keyboard doesn't glow........ but it is translucent and ... if you are good with led's.. you can make them glow. We did a project a few years ago with an S5 and did just that...... but it's not going to come like that out of the box.

The W5 keyboard is longer than the S5 keyboard........ you can actually see how they differ on this page: http://www.proportable.com/images/keyboardcompare.jpg

The Z70v keyboard was also translucent, I was thinking of doin g a project to 'light it up' but after seeing so many failures and it being pretty impossible due to the lack of space, I just gave up. Snake USB lights :D

I would think that would be a good thing to add to new notebooks wouldn't you?

A glowing keyboard...couldn't hurt, I can't imagine it's THAT hard for a manufacturer to add in.

One more thing...I just read the review on the new 12" Dell.

Does the W5a have the same kind of microphone that cancels out side and background noise to focus only on where its pointed?

    Thanks for all the help.

If I recall, all ASUS microphones are background noise isolated, though I'm not quite familiar in how that works.

Almost all ASUS laptops have a mic, but the W5 is the only one with the 180 degree camera, the others are attached into the top bezel.

So is the W5 Series the only one that has the swiveling camera and mic?

I really want to be able to record lectures (w/sound of course) next year for some of my courses.

But it would be nice if it had a decent graphics card...

The only thing I don't like about the W5a camera is you can't make it stay in varying positions/angles. It's either facing you flush, or facing the other way flush...you can't rotate it slightly at varying degrees along that 180 degree swivel...which would have been cooler if you ask me.

The W5a is a great notebook...I got a ridiculous deal on the one I got, but It's kinda out of date now...you should consider the W5F instead, I'm sure It's everything the W5a is and more...and you won't have trouble finding it instock :)

I'm hoping to find a ridiculous deal on a W5a now. I really don't have enough money to go buying a W5F.

I figure if I don't use a duo core computer for awhile I won't know what I'm missing, then I won't feel obligated to spend so much money on one ;)
