My S6Fm is on its last leg after a year of use & abuse . . . and I really love this little machine.

In fact, I am tempted to get another S6Fm to replace it . . . either that or jump ship to the XPS 1330.

I'd really like to stick with Asus, so I would stick it out and wait a tad longer if Asus is going to be unveiling a new member of the S6F family.

What are your thoughts on a new S6F/m in the pipeline? Features, release time frame, price, etc.

Typically, Asus does not release a refresh after a new platform update for several months afterwards. This puts any new Penryn updates of existing models into likely the second quarter, maybe with a HDD or RAM upgrade thrown in.... However, with a new processor it's more likely to stay the same until the cpu refresh later in 08, when the price drop there results in other component upgrades.

As for pricing, Asus also tends to alter and change the internal components while keeping the unit pricing the same or very close - so expect the Penryn S6 to probably have the similar pricing as the current -Fm model.

    Thanks!

That all makes sense . . . and leads me to believe I can't expect an update of the S6Fm until [at least] the second half of 2008.

Mayhap I should explore interim options like getting a bigger hard drive wedged in to my current S6Fm.
