    Hi,

I believe I posted this before together with anoth topic, though this part was left unanswered. Anyway I would just like to know if the S96J is compatible with the T7500 processor as it has 800Mhz bus speed. If yes, wouldn't I have any back-compatibility issue with the 667Mhz RAM installed? Or should I just go with the T7400.

I also was told once by a shop that S96Js are unstable with core 2, is this true?

Is it also hard to update the BIOS, is it an easy DIY, and where should I get the software required?

    Appreciate your feedbacks.

    thanks,
    JM

No, it would not fit. The S96j has a M socket.

The newer Merom processors T7X00 (where X is an odd number) uses the newer P socket, which would not physically fit.

For upgrades, look for Merom processors with the M socket, often designated T7X00 (where X is an even number).

Tnx for the response. So I'll probably go for a T7400 or T7200.

Hope someone could answer my other inquiries if ever I go for the above processors.

Shouldn't I upgrade the BIOS if my S96J only had a Yonah based T2400 pre-installed when I bought it?

Correct, but you said that because you have not done the BIOS upgrade before, that means that your BIOS is on the pre-VGA adapter fix.(which includes the capability to plug a Merom chip in.). Unless you bought your computer after the fix, then your already set.
