    Hi

Just wanted to let eevrybody know that I ordered S96J yesterday from Powernotebooks.com. Because I have not received it yet, i will just comment on my experience with my first laptop puchase from them

The first minute I called I felt that this is the company that will take care of you and any issues you might have with your laptop. I was dealing with Donald (ana Paladin44) here on forums. Let me tell you that this is the best service I have EVER got from any purchase. I was on the phone with Donald for like 45 min the first time asking questions, listening for comments, etc. I felt no pressure as to what I should buy, just simple and staight to the point answers at "what I need" vs. "what I must have". So, I will join Chazman and all other members of this forum who dealt with powernotebooks.com with saying that great service, in my opinion, outshines any $ deals that you will find, which I do not think is going to happen anyway unless you go to Dell.

So, here are my specs that I ordered:

    15.4" WXGA(1280x800)"Color Shine" LCD w/ATi RADEON X1600 w/256MB
    Intel® Core™ Duo T2500 2.0GHz Processor w/2,048k L2 On-die cache
    Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
2,048 MB (DDR/667 Dual Channel Memory
    100GB SATA/150 Hard Drive
    Combo Dual Layer DVDR
    Built in PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g
    Windows XP Home
3 Year warranty (Next Business Day Shipping - Lifetime 24/7 Tech Support )
    Total - $1671

Can not wait until I get it and play with it. I will post some commetns about it when I get it

    Regards,
    vasylko

Congrats! I'm holding out for the Z96J, but would love to hear your review of the S96J. I'll be ordering from a Canadian company, though, so I don't need to deal with customs and the like.

I was thinking about Z as well, but I think it would kill me for everyday use. Right now I have a work 19 inch screen with 1280x1024 and this is just perfecrt. If I get 15.4 screen with 1650x1054, that will be way to small.
Plus, games are much better if you play on native resolutions, from what I hear and read. So, this is your choice. But whatever you choose is going to be fantastic deal that the money. Plus, it is ASUS!! :D

    Good luck!

Well, I do computer programming for a living. The extra resolution means I have a choice of more text or higher-resolution text. My desktop has two monitors, a 19" CRT and a 24" widescreen LCD for a total of 3520 x 1200 resolution, and I can always use more. :)

But you are right, games work best at the native resolution of the LCD. This seems to be less of an issue than it used to be, though. That is to say, my 24" LCD seems quite happy running Oblivion at 1024 x 768. I wish I had a better video card, of course.
