I have an ASUS S96J that I bought from MilestonePC (CanadaSYS) and i've had it for a year now.

I've formatted it multiple times and it continues having this issue over and over again.

Basically, the issue is the following:

Each time windows starts up for the first time, it gets a blue screen of death saying "STOP 0x0000008" and "Win32k.sys" or something like that..

And then, it resets, and it starts up again and it works perfectly.

This is very annoying as it does this EVERYTIME it starts and it takes like 5-6 minutes for the computer to start up.

    My specs are
ASUS S96J runnin Windows Xp PRO
    80Gig segate hard drive
    T2400 1.83 Ghz
    ATi X1600 video card
    2Gigs Ram, i think it's 533MHZ, generic.

I think it might be a RAM problem, and I'm thinking about contacting milesone pc as I still have warranty but it takes me 2hours to get there by car, thats why i've been avoiding it.

The first possible cause for BSOD is faulty RAM sticks, you can try Memtest and make sure of that.
Apart from that overheating is also another possible cause.
Add faulty HDD to the list too.

It's been like this since it was brand new out of the box though and it seems to be running quite cool when I tested it a while back. CPU was in 45C range and ram was around there too...

The go for the Memtest. Let it do at least 300% and using the bootable version is recommended.

Two ours to get their and back? Better than having to wait two or three weeks because you shipped it UPS.

you could also try testing your hd. use your hd manufacturer's diagnostic tools. also, there have been some individuals having problems with their s96j b/c of a faulty optical drive......
