I have a problem with my S96J and I just noticed it just now when I was just going to use the DVD-ROM. I opened my computer and it seemed that there's no DVD-ROM drive detected. I tried to add a new hardware through the control panel but it just won't find any new hardware. I don't know why this is happening. Is this because of the windows update? How do I fix this problem? THanks

Open Device Manager and check to see if there are any errors mentioned or if the DVD -Drive is listed.

You might want to first confirm the BIOS can see the drive. Go into BIOS during bootup and check that the DVD drive is visible. If no, then try removing the drive unit itself from the laptop then push it back in and boot. Might be a contact issue between the drive and the M/B.
