    Can I mount a PATA disk (for instance, HTS721010G9AT00 - Hitachi 7K100 100gb PATA) in a S96J VBI barebone?

    If yes, how?

Because PATA disks' power consumption is considerably lower than the SATA versions...

    regards

You'd have to get a SATA--->ATA converter, I believe the S96J only has a SATA cable.

That's correct the S96j only accepts SATA hard drives, it doesn't have the extra connector or ability to accept both.

is that true for any 96J series model?

btw, do sata-to-ide adapters fit in it?

    Anyone?

I know of someone who bought a 96J from this site, configured with a 7200rpm 100gb HD, and the drive he recieved was HTS721010G9AT00 (Hitachi 7K100 PATA).

And, in that page, they mention:
So I guess the interface is definetly PATA...

    What model is this?

Btw, they also sell HEL80 with PATA HD.

Z96Jp takes a pata harddrive. s96j only takes sata. z96js only takes sata.
