I just built a new S96S notebook and after about a week i noticed the fan started running at full speed nonstop. Eventually a few minutes later it shut off like someone had pulled the batt and power cord. When i tried to turn it back on it would just light the power light for a few seconds and nothing else.
I let it sit for an hour and tried again, it started and after 5 sec the fan was back at full speed. So i checked the bios and it was reading over 200F for the graphics chip. So i shut it off and removed the panel covering it to find the graphics chip was barely warm.
So i started it back up, fan again running at full speed, and after booting into windows the chip was warm but not burning hot.
Anyone have any suggestions or should i just have it exchanged?

Did you remove the plastic pieces that cover the heatsink pads on the heatsink assembly?
-
Yes, actualy the place where i bought it did. I opened it up to put AS5 on the cpu before anything else, so i know everything was right.

I thought he meant something else, sorry.
Anyways, is there something between the heatsink and the GPU memory chips?
i.e. thermal pads, thermal paste, etc... -
if there were any thermal pads that originally came with your notebook and you removed it, that is most likely the culprit. those thermal pads are quite important and often seem to give overheating problems to people who try to build barebones systems and remove them.

The thermal pads are there, the plastic that protects them during shiping was removed

If it's barely warm but the BIOS reads skyhigh temperatures, it might be a BIOS problem or a sensor fault. (Although keep in mind that the core temperature of the chip can be higher than what you can feel on the outside. But I expect a 200F can be felt on the outside as well)
Can try to update/rewrite BIOS see if that fixes anything.
