well, the wireless card works, i'm connected right now and sending this messege through it, but it'll only find a "low" signal when i'm 2 feet from my netgear wireless router. It also find other routers, but they always show up as "no signal" unless i'm very close to them... anyone got any ideas? bad wireless card?

unplug router leave it for 5 minutes,

    power off laptop,

pull out the laptop's battery and AC cord let it sit for about 2 minutes and try connect again.

My linksys needs to be unpluged almost once a week.

I have had nothing but stellar results with my 3945. I'm continually amazed at how well it works, much better than any other notebook I have owned. I have ran it off several different routers.

If other computers are connecting well I would say you have a faulty card or antenna is not connected properly. Did you install card? Have you opened up to see if card is connected to antenna properly?

Same here. The only thing i can think of is the wires (antena) are not attached or you may want to switch to ms client. I cant stand proset. It can also be a bum wifi card. Try to connect to another router see if it changes. Honestly i ve seen people complain about intel wifi cards some go to atheros but i ve never ever had a problem. Sure i can count on my fingers how many we had to replace but the odds of you getting a bad wifi card are extremely low.

    I'm amazed by the 3945.

Did you assemble it yourself? Are the wire contacts on correctly?

I had the same thing on my Z96Js. Virtually all the networks around had considerably lower than usual signal. In most cases, it would be lower by two out of five bars compared to my Z63A in the same place.

Anyway, my Z96Js is going back. Looking at a Built by ASUS now since there's virtually no other decent ASUS barebones for Yonah processors. :(

    That's not normal.

Check the version next to the serial number underneath. I know that the new v5 WRT54G aren't too good. Also, third party firmware aren't quite as stable as the stock one in some cases.
