Asus U43F, Win7 64. All updates - Win, drivers, etc.

Build-in SD card reader refuses to recognise one SD card (Wintek filemate 16GB) - behaves like if there were no card inserted (no drive letter, no recognition in device manager). It worked in the past with this card, it works with other cards, the card can be read on another computer or through a cable.

Anybody has an idea how to solve it?

    1. Update card reader driver to a newer version, click here.
    2. Try a different SD card

Please, read the entire post before replying: Drivers are updated, the card works on another computer, and other cards can be read without problems. Any suggestions?
Could part of the card be corrupted and not readable on Win7 (other computer still runs XP)?

I have the same problem with with a flash drive. It works on other computers fine, computer recognizes other flash drives fine. Research points to a Registry issue, Sandisk has a fix online which unfortunately didnt work for me. See if Wintek has a registry fix, if not you may not be able to use that particular SD card until you do a clean Windows install.

You didn't specify any driver version so I've provided the latest version for you to try. You've already mentioned that it works on another system so there's no need to perform another format.
It comes down to either a bad OS, or compatibility between the SD card and the card reader since not all readers were made equal.

I was having the same issues with my reader which started just a few days ago. One day the reader worked and then the next day it stopped. I updated the drivers via the MSI site and restarted with no change. I noticed that they were using Realtek drivers so I just went to their site and got the drivers directly from them. After installing, restarting, the reader works again. The following link is where the drivers can be found.
