This is kind of a double edged question. First and foremost, I want to upgrade to a SSD. My question is what good cloning software is there out there? I don't want to go through hours of reloading everything on my laptop. Do you have an recommendations? Second, I miss having Bluetooth, and I know that many people upgraded the integrated wireless cards in the 1000ha/he netbooks. So my question is, are there any cards that anyone can recommend to suit my needs? That is the main to things I would really like to change asap, the other things can hold off, but I really need some direction.

I've use Acronis to do all my cloning. Works nicely and relatively fast.

Installing a internal BT module in a netbook will almost be impossible due to the limited space inside the chassis. Next best option is to use a BT USB dongle.

Wifi card upgrades are usually do-able. Keep in mind that some/most netbooks will only have 1 or 2 antennas, so if you upgrade say to an Intel 6300 wifi card that utilizes 3 antennas, you'll have to install a third antenna.

Gezz, you only allowed less than 45 minutes for someone to answer, give it some time.

The thing you need to be careful of is making sure when you clone the drive that you maintain proper alignment of the partition. It needs to be a number divisible by 1024 on your SSD. Proper alignment ensure the drive operates at it's full speed potential.

I would suggest going to Acronis and searching partition alignment and reading up on the search results to familiarize yourself.

45 min? It was like a week?

Anyways thanks for the help. I didn't know about the partition alignment.

No, I changed from a netbook to the U35jc notebook. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I want to upgrade the wifi card to one that has builtin bluetooth, because I was thinking that it was builtin to some intel cards? Am I wrong? and thanks for the help.

lol I want FREE, QUALITY HELP, and I want it FAST.

Sorry, If you havn't heard a response, bump your thread. Ask again. Don't ask questions that have easy-to-find responses on google, because people generally won't rush to help you if you havn't helped yourself.

I had a 1000HA, they're nice enough. If you want bluetooth, you can get a combo bluetooth/wifi card and swap it with the regular one, or disassembly the baby and buy the proper bluetooth card. Or spend $2 at dealextreme and get one of those usb bluetooth dongles that sit flush with your usb port.

As for spending hours reloading everything ... it's not that long, even with a traditional HDD. You install windows (40 minutes with a USB drive, 20 with a USB key and SSD), and then install the ATK100 package. All the other drivers are the same as the ones that are a) generic windows drivers or b) found with windows update.

Also, can you imagine how much time you'd have saved if you spend 3 hours doing it (as you say), instead of waiting a week for a response?

I'm not sure what all the sarcasm is for? I know how google works, there were no hits on what I was/am asking about specific to the u35jc. The reason why I said what I did is because it took more than that amount of time to transfer all the stuff from my old 1000he to this. Also, I was asking more for recommendations than help. I didn't sit by my computer for a week straight just waiting for help, I just happened to think about it one night after I finished with my HW and thought I would check it. I'm not just talking about a fresh install, i'm talking about transferring everything from passwords music etc to the new drive.

Cloning is not a great idea for SSDs, because you're going to mess up the alignment, there are some vendor tools that try to get it right, but the safest way is to just back up your data and reinstall fresh onto the new drive.

Yup, a clean install would be best and ideal. However, I've always been too lazy to do so since I didn't and don't have an internal DVD drive on my past couple laptops and didn't want to reinstall all the drivers. :p So far I haven't seen any degradation in performance, but for my next OS reinstall, I'd probably do a clean install just to be safe.

So am I correct in assuming that the intel 6300 has bluetooth builtin? I can't confirm on their website or the the thread on this site doing a comparison. I just have to add the extra antenna, correct?

I can, I'm just horribly lazy. lol. I may do that anyway, because last move I did I ended up with a bunch of duplicates.

No, the 6300 wifi card does not have bluetooth. The extra antenna for the 6300 card is for better range and larger bandwidth.

Are there any intel cards that do? I can't seem to find any, all I keep coming up with are the cheap cards on ebay and such, which I don't really trust.

Intel doesn't have any BT+wifi cards combo in the mini-PCIe format. Why do you not trust the 6300? It's regarded as one of the best wifi cards in the market now.

I trust the 6300, it is the cheap no name knockoffs on ebay that I don't trust. I'm looking for a mini PCIe wifi+bt combo, and the 6300 doesn't have that. I would prefer to have a name like intel atheros, etc. to buy my card from.

PM babyhemi for the 6300. He's an authorized Intel reseller. Many people on the forums bought their 6300 wifi card from him as did myself. Guaranteed to be genuine.
