Hi, I have the Asus M50VM-B1 and I'm so close to tossing it off of an apartment building. When I pay so much for a laptop, I expect it to work like how a computer should work.

Before I give you guys the wrong picture, I love this laptop and I want to continue to love it... It's just when I run into problems, it becomes extremely frustrating. Also, before you guy's all tell me to update my drivers, I already have and it doesn't change a thing.

To begin, the keypad on the laptop frequently gives me an error saying something along the lines of "synaptics touchpad enhancements have stop responding." which forces me to restart the laptop if I want to have the features work again. This includes scrolling with the touchpad which I desperately need as I do a lot of word processing on the laptop and web browsing. Moving onto the keyboard, it doesn't respond quickly, for example when I'm playing a racing games and I hit the key to turn right, it'll take it too long of a second for the game to receive that signal telling it to turn right, the same goes with first person shooting games.

Now 2 things that really erks me is how firefox will freeze on a page. For example, just now as I tried to log onto this website and I put in my username and password... it just froze and I had to go into task manager to close it. Secondly, msn will randomly freeze on it's own and it also becomes unclickable forcing me to use task manager to shut it down. This becomes really frustrating when people leave me messages and I can't read what they sent me because msn is frozen.

Also, sound is another huge issue... I mean the quality of the speakers are top of the line, but these things just can't go loud enough. When I'm in doing a presentation and need a conference room full of people to hear something, the speakers just can't go loud enough for even the front row people to hear unless the room is quiet enough to hear a pin drop. It's also quite annoying that whenever I log into something, I get annoyed with an asus protection manager that asks me if I want it to save my password and username in the system.

These problems really frustrate me because I have friends who paid 400 dollars for their laptops and they've never ran into these problems. I wish i could have done the same at this point, but the specs on this laptop is what I need.

Anyhow, I'll leave it at that before I state more problems and create an even bigger wall of text. Please if anyone can help, please do, I really don't want to have to get rid of this laptop.

The keyboard issue has to do with the Synaptics touchpad drivers, if you remove those, your keyboard lag issues should be gone as well, but it appears that you can't.

As for the protection manager, you can uninstall it.

Have you updated the synaptics driver?
    What OS are you using?
    Updated the BIOS (if available?)
It's possible it's a bad install of the OS. You shouldn't be getting those freezes (obviously).
Remove the Asus software that is bothering you.
Did you put the sound volume in all the possible places (windows, hotkeys on the laptop, windows sound panels, etc) up to max? Don't expect miracles from speakers on laptops regardless.

I also have this other issue with stability of my wireless connection. Sometimes when I'm with friends and we're connected to the same router. I will constantly get dropped and they will remain online. What's up with that?

Doesn't it offer other features as well? Such as the ones that aren't bothering me?

Everywhere, my cellphone is louder. Compared to other laptops though, the speakers are really really low. I know what to expect from laptop speakers but these ones don't come near my expectations.

    EDIT
Just updated the touchpad drivers again and when I restarted the computer and came back to browsing the web... It stopped responding again.

On my computer, Synaptics Touchpad Enhancements tends to crash when I attempt to scroll on a page which has foreign characters. Is this in line with what you are experiencing? (though even if it is, I don't have a solution for it..)

Nope, just happens randomly. Although I'm starting to see a pattern with it when I use msn. I just updated msn, I'll see if that helps. (This new msn live is ugly)

Am I the only one with these problems? Should I just reformat the laptop?
