Is it automatic that the screen will dim a little on battery power even if screen brightness is set to max? I have full power on when on battery and I noticeably see the screen get dimmer when i disconnect A/C and brighter when I connect A/C. I'm guessing there is nothing I can do about it?

Its quite normal, because it saves alot of energy, and then the battery lasts longer. You may be able to turn the brightness up by using the Fn commands, but it may not go up to as high a level, as whenusing the AC adapter.

Thanks, that confirms what I thought. It will never go as bright as A/C power, which is fine...I just wanted to know.

If you reallllly want to change that behavior, if you look down in your system tray area, assuming you haven't performed a major reinstall and omitted this, you should see a little green icon in there. If you hover your mouse over it, it should say stuff like "High Performance", or "Gaming", or "Battery Saving".

This is Asus's power management app, Power4 Gear. Right click the icon, go to configuration. Go down to battery saving and a bunch of options should pop up on the right. Double click on any of those entries (like brightness level) and you can alter the values stated to your tastes.

Just remember, the more CPU or brightness you consume while on batteries, the quicker you'll run out of juice.

Yeah I have it set as High Performance...but even if I don't use it I have everything set as "always on", but i'm pretty sure it's just a default thing for when running on battery power. Maybe i'll check the bios. I realize that my battery time would drop substantially so not a big deal really...just was curious.

There is an option in the BIOS but it doesn't "work" or at least doesn't affect the brightness. There is another thread on this issue, so if you had used search before posting...
