Hi everyone, I am a proud new owner of a G1S :) Loving it so far, but there is one problem that is irritating me... Whenever I close the lid, and re-open it, the screen stays off. This started doing this this morning. Yesterday, this problem didnt really happen.. I was able to reopen it, hit the power button to take it out of hibernation and it fired right back up. Now the screen just says off. The machine is on, and the HDD light flashes too. Anyone out there with the same problem that found a solution?

    BTW, im running Vista 32bit.

This might be Vista. Look at the patches mentioned here.

Google might unearth some more patches.

try clicking your mouse or pressing a key of your laptop, for me what happens is the screen is black and everything is working, after sleep, and then I click my mouse and the screen turns on. Try that, might work.

Tried that... even tried fn + F7... no avail....

I'm thinking it might be ForceWare X 165.01.. since thats the only thing that changed since today and yesterday.. I will try to change it later if no one provides another fix...

It could definitely be video drivers. Revert to stock and if the problem goes away, it's clear.

I changed my drivers from 165.01 to 163.44 and that seem to have done the trick. YAY :) .. but my 3dmark06 score suffered by about 100 points though lol... oh well... at least I can close my lid now :)

Quite simple actually. Log into safe mode, delete old drivers. Then in regualr windows, double clicked on setup and presto... installed lol... Make sure you have the right 163.44 version.. I believe there was like 3 version: XP, Vista 32 it, and Vista 64 bit. Also, make sure you have the modded inf file

wow I hit 3941 with that driver. :)
    Two things irking me.
    1) Constant HD access. Dunno why. Every time I reboot. After maybe 15mins it stops I think. only saw that happen 2x (stopping)
    2) My damn mouse doesnt save mouse settings (Its really the touchpad but the "mouse" control pad is the one with the sensitivity for movement)

I can't help but to think how bad my battey life is with the harddrive on all the time.
