Im an Aussie looking to get my first laptop. I've been told ASUS are among the best available. I've been looking at purchasing an ASUS M6A-B011P. It seems to pack a bit of grunt while also being affordable ($2443 AUD).

The only thing i noticed is it looks like this model has the standard WXGA screen and not the Colourshine type? Can someone please explain to me what this is all about? Does it really matter if i dont have Colourshine??

Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers guys.

Several friendly suggestions before someone else flames you for not doing a bit of research before asking the question:
    (1) Read the Asus FAQ within this forum. (2) Do searches within the Asus forum on screen, display, colorshine, etc.

Have noticed that some folks can get a bit testy in their responses. Hence the above suggestions. The experts here (not me; i'm just a newbie) will help you out if you do your homework first, then ask questions.

    Taken from the FAQ:

    Crystal Shine LCD Technology
Crystal Shine LCD Technology makes ASUS notebooks screens brighter and more vivid. Movies and images that are more vibrant. Text is clearer and easier to read.

    Color Shine LCD Technology
With Color Shine LCD Technology images are displayed with increased higher contrast. Blacks are blacker, whites are whiter. Movies, pictures, and games are displayed in their natural brilliant and vibrant colors for a more realistic and immersive experience.

I'm pretty sure the M6a is a glaretype screen, unless you've seen it yourself. Do you have a link?

Well things are different everywhere, but the M6a (or Z70a in the US) came with the same screen you're referring to.. a matte type display with only WXGA resolution. If you want a system with a better screen and one with a higher resolution, you're going to have to look towards models with dedicated graphics. The fact is, more people looking for that higher end screen, are also looking for graphics... So you can up your resolution if you look at the M6va. If you want to go with a colorshine (glaretype display) ... you can look at something like the V6va if it's offered down there with the right screen.... but all of these are going to increase your cost and I'm not sure if you're driven buy the cost of the system, or your needs.... so you need to figure the rest out.

To be honest, I think you'd get the best "bang for the buck" f you purchased the A6J.
The M6a is a little outdated compared to the A6J
