Ok so i have searched on here and also google. I'm not a computer nub. My core speed drops to around 1500 from 1995mhz. My voltage doesnt change and the things i have searched have said its due to hibernation. Cannot find a fix and i have tried power4gear to see if it might reset. Sometimes it fixes itself but Its really annoying to have a .5ghz decrease about every 5 sec. thanks for yall time

    my laptop is a g51-rx05

whoops i realized this isn't the right section sorry about that, mod. can you please move? thanks

this is not a "problem" this is called Intel Speedstep. When your CPU is idling, and nothing is really using it, it downclocks to save power and produce less heat.

see i thought it might be intels but sometimes it just stays at the constant speed of 1995mhz, even when im not even doing anything. Thats why i was so confused, oh well i guess it just is lazy mode :p

Try running Orthos or wPrime (or anything that stresses the CPU), then check during the haps.

If it's still at 1GHz then you got a problem.

You can see this with CPUZ too, the same happens with your graphics card.
In regular desktop it's running like 1/5, 1/6 of the GPU power until you start up a 3D game.
