Im thinking about adding a secondary HD, however i am concerned that it will drain my batteries, how much will it effect the battery with a secondary drive? I would be putting it in a G50VT-X1 which does not have great battery life to begin with.

depends if the drive is spun up or not.

if idle is at around 800mWh, then the power draw for just being there will be less than 200mWh.

im assuming the g50vt has a 50000mWh battery, and if my xp64 install draws 19000mWh on average (2.63 hours), then adding even 1000mWh will reduce that battery life to 2.5 hours. if the drive will be at peak the whole time, then it will draw ~23000mWh, then it will last 2.17 hours.
