Not sure why but my V6va seems to like hibernating itself.....often.

Sometimes everytime I turn it on, it turns off...

    Any help?

In the process of typing this thread, it has aready hibernated 7 times.

    Thanks :p

edit: Next best thing I did, was to disable Hibernation. So far so good, although it did flash to the 'Now Hibernating' screen once for about half a second....

It is possessed! Unplug it immediately so that the evil spirit contained within can not escape into your home's electrical system. Package it, along with all its accessories, very carefully so as to not damage this dangerous beauty, and FedEx it to me so I exorcise the evil spirit. Of course I will not be able to send the V6va back to you for liability reasons since I will not be able to ensure complete and permanent removal of the entity taking residence in your machine. However, to protect those around you it is your duty to follow my instructions completely.

    It's been done!

    ;)

Yea, I'm kinda freaked at first haha.

Once, It hibernated, and when I pressed the power button, it booted til the Login, where it then Hibernated again.

    Hmmm....

It's fine now, but I need to use hibernate.....!

that's strange. have you checked your power options in the control panel? It sounds like one of the settings is set to go into hibernation after 1 minute.

Update, after 5 hours of stability, it has self standby, then upon un-standby, it standby'ed again, rinse and repeat 3 times. Now it seems stable again...

that's not good! It sounds definitly hardware. You could try something like knoppix and see if you get similar problems, but it sounds like it's either a bad power switch (i.e. you have your swtich programmed to susped/hibernate and it's just soo finicky) or you have a more serious hardware issue. Try changing the setting for how your power switch behaves (disable it, or set it to shutdown) and see if it makes a difference.

Still the same...but it was stable for about 8~hours, then started acting up again

However, if I take the battery out its fine...

hmmm, try disabling the emergency shut down when battery life is low (in power settings). perhaps your battery circuitry is faulty and sending a dead signal periodically.

Nope, it just hibernated again with battery out.

I guess I have to backup everything again(Anyone have any other method other then copy everything physically to an external?), and reformat again. Ugh

If you reformat, you may want to make two partitions so you don't have to go through the process of copying everything over to another drive.

Oh, I found out whats wrong

The It's the 'press power button to <xxxx>' command. I set it to 'Ask Me' and it keeps popping up.

    Now....what to do.

coriolis, i told you to try that... that's what i meant by "Try changing the setting for how your power switch behaves (disable it, or set it to shutdown) and see if it makes a difference." As I said, it sounds like it's definitly a hardware issue. The operating system keeps getting that system request which is an event driven by either your power switch (so it may be finicky) or an emergency shutdown (this test isolates your battery as not being the problem).

Try rubbing the power button and see if the request pops up. That would likley indicate the power switch being the problem. Eitherway, it's a hardware problem and will need fixing.

I did, but at first, nothing happened, and it hibernated too. So I just crossed that off. Guess I shoulda tested it longer

    I think its a hardware problem too....hmm

It looks alike a hardware problem, after a fresh reformat, same symptoms. It looks like the power button is faulty, as sometimes it turns off by itself suddenly.

It was fine all today, after I reformatted and reinstalled everything(about 5 hours :p) and just now I concluded the problem. I'll do it first thing tomorow....its a weekend though. Hopefully still up :)
