I may by wrong but a pimped out duo core will probably be over your price range of $2K....the W3V is definitely one of the sexiest asus products on the block with the form factor you want and would be able to handle most of your tasks...if you want video editing you'll probably need a 7200 rpm drive, which is the only thing the stock W3V doesn't have...unless you either get a modded W3V or an external drive maybe. I've tried capturing DV video on a 5400 drive and it's hit or miss. From what you've mentioned I don't see why you'd need a duo core...and like I said it would probably be out of your price range

Since Intel is phasing out Sonoma, i prefer to invest in the Dual Core...And i can shell out more $$ to be at least future proof for the next 6 months until Merom gets out

Unfortunately i can't wait for Merom

I didn't notice your timeframe, but the S5 may be really nice.... but I believe that's going to have an 11" screen and probably won't appear till late spring.

..... The W5/W3 are great choices.... I didn't notice the need for dedicated graphics.... what's your graphics need?

It should be available within the next 30-45 days I believe... it's just an updated version of the V6Va; however, I think it will not have the IPS screen (although I think it will still be glossy)

I wouldn't bank on the times for ASUS / DUO yet...
You can always wait, and then wait some more.
