Hi guys,
I got a G1S that I love, but lately the LCD doesn't always come on after sleep. A reboot and cold-restart (removing battery as well) doesn't seem to fix the issue, as in, when I turn on the laptop I still have no display. I have a feeling either the GPU or mobo is on its way out.
Now my question is, when I send in my unit for repair, can I just send the unit minus harddrive? What did you guys do?
Thanks

I sent my G1s for repair once, but before I created a disk clone using a spare USB external disk and then I used the recovery DVD to remove my personal data from the laptop. I know that they are professional, but I don't like someone messing up with my personal data

If you take out the hard drive, do you have a spare to put in and reformat with the recovery dvd? They are going to want the os on the computer to do testing. When I sent in my G2S, on the phone, they were explicit to backup data (as all companies say) because they would be both software and hardware troubleshooting. That was a load of bs as it was never turned on after it left my possession but it was there so they couldn't deny me a fix. Cloning it is the best idea, that way they can do whatever they please. Also, delete any private info if you are worried, but back it up separate to the clone. GL with whatcha do.

I just sent in my G1S for repair... I backed up my data and use a diskcleaner to completely get rid of any data from the hdd. i then restored the OS using the restore disk.
IMO, cloning will only be good if they replace the g1s mobo with another g1s. But some users here have gotten the newer g1sn mobo installed instead of the g1s. so you'll have a hdd setup for a different mobo at that point. I would rather just reinstall and transfer back the personal data.
Sending my G1S for repair, remove hard drive?
