Just have opened f8N-B1 box and began visual inspection.
First that crossed my mind - where is serial#?
At the bottom I've found several stickers affixed and one suppose to be with this serial# There are 2 numbers I suspect:
One is above barcode- long and begins with 84NoAs201.....
Second is under barcode -called Check number and 4 digits long.
So what is for serial fist, second, non of the above?

Serial number should be the one on the top and before it are the initials SN:
also, look in your warranty booklet, it has all the important numbers too

Yes, the serial number should be located above the bar code and should be 15 digits long.

NO at the bottom. Thanks for pointing at warranty booklet - this tip gave me answer. ASUS is cutting price saving on ink. My serial came without SN letters (just plain numbers only)

Yep, also you might want to cover that sticker with clear tape or smth like that -- it has been known to rub off due to use, which may cause problems with warranty later.

Man, that must be a freakin' new and shiny laptop according to your serial number.

Yes, the 84N..... number is the serial number.

You will be able to find it on the bottom of the unit, another sticker like that on the main battery, and somewhere on the box...

    Hi guys.

I am an unfortunate owner of an A8JS.. The hinges that hold the screen broke off and now I am trying to get the serial no so that I can send it to Asus
    But I have several problems
1- The SN on top of the barcode is very vague and rubbed off due to use.
I can only make out the last 10 digits:

    NOAS15****
Is this enough? Do all Serial nos begin with the same few letters and numbers? As I said I can only make out these 10 digits beginning with N

2-I know its also on the battery.. but I replaced the battery long ago when it died in a month after buying the laptop..

3-I checked the invoice Newegg sent me via email. The S/N is not on there but do you think they keep records?

Thank you very much for your help guys!!!

Do you have the box? The SN is also on the box the notebook came in.

And no, I don't think that 6 digits are enough...
