I'm having a serious problem with my W3J. It just keeps rebooting non-stop. After the reboot it gets past the xp screen, all I get after that is a black screen with my mouse for about 10 seconds and it restarts again. Yesterday, I installed/flashed with the new BIOS 210 and this morning I installed the new Omega drivers 3.8.291 and ever since then I can't get to windows. I've always been using the Omega drivers with no problems. Any ideas what's wrong? help!

Was everything fine until you flashed the BIOS?

If this happen after the upgrade drivers so one of the following
    1. restore windows to an earlier time using restore point
    2. reinstall windows using the restore cd
    3. rollback the drivers you installed
you should not upgrade the drivers. The problem is not with the w3j its with the drivers you installed

This issue has been addressed here before. Do a search on "W3J infinite reboot loop" or something similar.

There should be a super sticky here that says "DO NOT USE DRIVERS THAT ARE NOT FROM THE INCLUDED DRIVER CD"

That would seem like overkill, some users will find performance advantages using updated or 3rd party drivers like the Omega drivers etc. but on the converse a warning about using these at your own risk would be wise, and a disclaimer stating that reverting back to the orignal drivers resolving such issues may be more productive.

I for example, am enjoying trouble free operation on my W3j with the 6.9 Based Omega drivers.

Yeah, I've had no problems whatsoever using the Omega's until now. Everything was fine after the new BIOS too, until I downloaded and installed the new Omega drivers.

It's definitely your new Omega driver.

i actually had this problem with omega drivers on my desktop as well. you have to uninstall the drivers in safemode and install new drivers.

I used omega drivers until last week. It turned out it has so much background problems that you are not aware of. I had problem that my w3j reboot when optical battery hit 0%, which i had no clue was omega related until i tried ati drivers.

You should either disable powerplay, or use ATI stock, 6.8, or 6.10 drivers. All 3 of those are very stable. I personally using 6.10, powerplay enabled.

I'm using Omegas - dunno which version - on a W3J with PowerPlay disabled and things are great. To say that nothing should be used but stock drivers is a little obnoxious.... What about all the people running Linux or other operating systems (yes, I've tested it on my W3J)? You should be warned of the consequences, but still be allowed and encouraged to play around with your own computer until you've configured it how you like it.

I think this has caused enough problems to warrant a sticky of some kind, honestly. Maybe not quite worded that way, but something. It's discussed on a weekly basis...

I figured out what was wrong and everything is back to normal again. After downloading the new Omega drivers, I went ahead and installed it without uninstalling/removing the older one. I guess that just messed things up. Anways, I just used Bart PE booted up, saved all my stuff that I didn't want to loose and recovered back.
