Hey all, my Asus A8JP is having the following problems

    1) Battery wear (45% battery wear)
    2) The screen is a bit loose (sort of)
    3) There's something loose and rattling inside the notebook chassis

Based on the above, when i send it in for servicing, how long will the servicing take/do i need to leave it overnight at the service center?

(btw i want to clarify that the battery is under 1 year warranty right? Then will the replacement battery have another year's warranty or something?)

I don't know about service in Singapore, in US things would take a few days, in Europe maybe two weeks.

Your new battery will not have a fresh 1year warranty, but just the piece of warranty that is still left (a few months).

I've had my L-8400 laptop serviced three times in Singapore from 2001 - 2004. I did not send it in for servicing, I caught the MRT, and went to the actual Service Center (you can find the address on the ASUS website). The Center itself is really small and I believe there are only 2-3 technicians there. I left my laptop overnight twice, since one of the chips inside melted (the one that has to do with the cooling?). My fan was really clogged and they took it apart and cleaned it. And then I had heating problems again a couple months later, and then they replaced a part.

I'm not sure how long it'll take them to fix, but I suggest you go there in person and ask. It might speed up the process too as you've met them face to face, so the servicing is more 'personal'. I remember they called me on my cell whenever the servicing was done.

Also, bring your original purchase receipt just in case if you need it.... I can't remember if I used it or not.

    Hope that helps! :D
