Which of these laptops is better for gaming and the better priced deal overall? Im really considering getting asus but Im troubled.

First of all Im going to school in Japan & The Asus is lighter at 7 pounds while the HP is 11 pounds, I dont know if this is something to be considered when finding a laptop carrying around with bulkiness getting in the way, also
the asus has 1GB DDR3 VRAM (video memory),which makes games play faster right???but is 100$ more and and Im not sure what ddr3 does.
meanwhile the HP has a better processor . also battery life would be important but they are often false statements (like my ipod says last 7-8 hours in reality only about 1) So I dont think battery life matters.
I could find so many reviews on the Asus but nothing on the HP from wal-mart, so Im really puzzled. Im not that knowledgable on computers.
Which of these laptops is better for gaming and the better deal overall that will last me atleast 3 years and more?
this will be my first laptop.

I checked in walmart & the actual hardive size for the HP is 320 like the asus and not 640.

Go with the ASUS. There is simply no comparison to make between an ASUS and an HP. ASUS is number one in reliability and service while HP this year was on the near bottom of the list.
