I am gonna buy the Asus G1S laptop . I have a bit of confusion whether to go for WSXGA+( 1680*1050 ) or the WXGA+ (1440*900) . I know that the WSXGA+ screen will look better due to the higher resolution . But i am asking in terms of support for games and many applications .

I heard that most LCD TV support only 1400*900 . Is that true

There is an option for other than 1680x1050 for the G1S?

In that case go for the 1680x1050! You can set the tvout and HDMI outputs to a separate resolution to the LCD screen. (can't confirm this 100%, but this is the case with desktop GPU's)

    Get the high-res!

Only you can decide if you like it, though.

This depends on how you use your laptop. I think the WSXGA+ is the best choice as opposed to a smaller resolution that makes things look too big and gives you less window space..or if you could choose a higher resolution it might make your content on the LCD too small and hard to read.

If you have bad eye sight get a lower resolution LCD. If you are using just the laptop LCD I would get the higher resolution. If using with an external display and it will be far away from your sight, then maybe go lower. Do you like having alot open at the same time? say browsing, music, email all open at once? then go for the SXGA+. It all depends on what you do.

Goto your local laptop place and check a few resolutions out to get an idea of the different options out there.

I enjoy my games at a higher resolution than 1440*900. If you like working with computers get the higher resolution. If I had to chose not knowing anything about you I would still get the sxga+, there's more flexibility and you can set the resolution lower. Although when setting an LCD at a resolution other than its native (advertised resolution) it may look a tad hazzy around the screen fonts and such.

    GL!
