just want to know your opinions on this becuase vista came pre installed on my a8js
-
Well it really depends on what you think of it - whether, or not you like it.
-
I personally went back to xp after a week of vista business. For 200$ I almost bought Vista Ultimate today. I think I'm going to wait some more.
-
i have the same question:
vista: faster boot time, better dual core utilization, nicer feel/look
--incompatible with softwares/
--cant play cracked games
--cant play ripped dvds
--lotsa usability issues(not used to all the new formats and stuff)
--system hog.
xp: could do what u used to do except slower boot time
u're system would be over kill for it... resulting in less chance for system overload... BUT then XP doesnt utilize allot of the faster computing u have.. so ... -
How do you think Vista has faster boot time? It takes me a long time to get in Vista.
-
i just bought an a8js. vista loads like within 1 minute while xp takes a while loadin the xp window and stuff. vista utilizes its hardware capabilities a lot better.
-
-
i was originally gonna buy the G1 but after i found out i couldnt buy it with Xp i went for the G2 with Xp instead.
I had tried vista on a new sony lap a bud had bought. Playing with vista for a few hrs decided it wasnt for me. -
Can't play cracked games on Vista??? Oh noo...
-
Aside from some gaming issues (mostly having to do with nVidia's terrible drivers for Vista) I'm actually using Vista almost exclusively. I still boot into XP once in a while for a round of gaming, but all my development work/university stuff is done in Vista. On my desktop (Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM) it's substantially more responsive than XP and on the laptop (P-M 1.6, 1GB RAM, Go 6600) it's still on par if not a slight bit faster than XP. It does bog down (on my laptop) if I've got lots of programs open, especially stuff like Photoshop, cause the memory just gets eaten away.
So if you've got 2GB RAM and a dual core, I'd definitely suggest at least trying out Vista. -
well will it void my asus warranty?
-
No, changing your OS will not affect your warranty.

Basically they compare XP and Vista's boot time, although they did not mention anything regarding the specs of their computer used. It might turn out to be hardware rather than software issues. -
just kidding. -
I think you can play cracked games on Vista...but then again I might be wrong.

InTheZeroYear Notebook Evangelist
and maksin 01. Yes you CAN play ripped dvds. where are you getting this information???
I too was frustrated with vista's incompatibilities, but even in just the time ive used it, those issues have been improved alot and will continue to improve.
After using vista and all its features, I did try going back to XP, only to find Xp frusrating when I went looking for vista features taken for granted haha.
Vista is a better OS. if it wasn't MS would not have released it. (although they cut it close ;p) -
So it CAN play cracked games? Cool!
-
yup played stalker today -
hmmm... people sometimes create myths on Vista... the DRM thingy, etc, etc, etc, and such, well i could even play everything on it. the originals, the pirated and a whole lot more illegal. lol!
-
Vista is a very nice upgrade from XP. The problem that i'm having is the lack of support for Vista, and Asus notebooks in general. It would be nice to get some driver updates for my ATI card, and other updates that I've seen for XP.
-
I suggest given you already paid for the OS, try it out and see if you can use it with reasonable performance for all the tasks you are doing. If so, there is no point in going back to XP. Otherwise, install XP -- but not unless it's necessary.
Should i keep vista or go back to xp?
