Proud and mostly happy new owner of Asus 53sm-es72.
Learning more from Google than the eManual has to offer.
curious (for example) that I found no mention anywhere why Number keys 1 and 6 have white circles with black numbers...any significance to that?
Manual states toggling fn f2 key will give me Bluetooth, or wireless or one or the other - I can only seem to get both or none.
Is trying to get tapping features on touchpad ever going to work as described on it's "control panel"/menu {menu easy to access on task bar extension by clock}. Not really concerned since I don't see how the touchpad tricks would affect my work...just curious.
Pop up bar comes up on bottom of page on this website - is it the site? Can I stop it if it is (haven't seen it anywhere else) - again, no big deal (none of it is - more just curiousity).
Searching both this website and Google, it seems I might be the only person to own this model - there are 4 reviews on Amazon, but I think at least 2 or3 are really reviews of a similar machine (es1).
Nothing at all on search for this model on this site - nothing on Google other than links to Amazon - B&H camera sells this model and they are a good seller (I'm a photographer and use them a lot)...but not a single review...same with one or two other sellers that show this model as available. All say "be the first to review" = or give a link to the 4 reviews on Amazon.
Just really surprised I couldn't find a mention here with so many Asus owners....is there anything I didn't realize when buying it? Seems there are other similar models with lesser specs for more money and they are more popular....(can it be this is so new no one has it yet? If tech support is right, they told me it came out in Q4 of 2011.....certainly enough time for others to have bought it}![]()
TIA
Peace,
Richard

the 1 and 6 keys are circled to find then easier in low lighted environments. (they do not do any special functions)
You are right Fn F2 is limited, as you found out. IF you want to turn off BT and leave Wlan on double click the wireless console icon in the systray
to get rid of the pop up bar go the the bottom of any page and select vbulletin default -
Right before I saw your post I happened to see an "x" on the flag icon on the tray and that led me to discover the wireless console you told me about....so now it makes sense (turned off BT for now since I am not using any
BT devices at the moment).
Took me a minute to find the vbulletin default, but got it. Did the trick.
Great help...thanks again!
I think part of my touchpad problem may be from a conflict with using a mouse at the same time....just noticed now with USB dongle plugged in that the touch-pad isn't working at all...I took it out and it's still not responding, but I have a feeling after a restart it might.
Peace,
R.
