So, there I was, waking up to a weird noise like something just fell...
Oh wait! MY LAPTOP! I look down at the side of my bed, see it laying there and pick it up real quick, flip it open, and turn it off. Praying.
It was about 430am. I realize there was no way in heck that I was going to be able to get ANY sleep after that, unless I do a damage report. So, I man up after about 10 minutes just laying there thinking how much I suck at life. I open it back up, turn it on, crossing my fingers. Everything seems normal... vista pops up and does its little happy, "hello nice to see you, please type your password" noise. I hesitate for a moment, thinking, "oh this is a setup. I know it's going to do some crazy matrix screen right when I login." Again, I man up and type in my password. Hmmmn, Neo isn't teleporting through my telephone lines at this point, so I'm thinking, hey maybe I got lucky... then there it was:
WINDOWS SIDEBAR HAS RESURRECTED ITSELF!!!
Just when I thought I got rid of this thing for good, (it not popping up for 2 whole weeks.) This thing wont die! Gahhhh! At least my notebook is fine, well appears to be. I gamed on it a little bit today too, haven't noticed anything.
It fell off my bed, which is a box spring, and TWO mattresses, so it was quite distance to carpet. It was facing bottom-up when I first saw it, so it fell on the back of screen, which I'm thinking now, braced the hardware impact. I really cannot see anything wrong it, which is great. I'm glad Asus built this sturdy of a notebook. I just wish I could get rid of windows sidebar.
Anyways, I was bored and thought you all should know about my extreme adventure this morning.
Oh and my PC's harddrive finally ate it too, so I woke up to it not booting, actually trying to boot into X64 windows when I formated over it to reinstall x32 windows, which was really odd. Thats a whole 'nother thread in itself though, and I'm running chkdsk /r right now, if that works, I'm backing up everything and sticking to my WD drive that has been extremely faithful, compared to this Segate.

Those first few minutes after realizing you dropped your laptop must be painful!! I've had that happen before too and it's definitely not a good feeling
Was the laptop turned on when you knocked it over? Because hard drives should be able to sustain a good amount of shock when it's off. But good thing nothing else broke.
If you do find out your hard drive is damaged, Asus can replace it for you since you have the accidental warranty -
Well, it was in a sleep mode. Not sure it if it the 'hibernate' feature or not, but I do have it set have to re login after 2 hours of non use. So, I'm not sure if HDD was actually on or not.
But yes, I'm very thankful of both the warranty and the solidness of this notebook. It was a very terrifying moment indeed. -
The sidebar has come back to haunt you...
On another note, what exactly is wrong with the sidebar? -
-
That sucks that you dropped your laptop...
At least nothing was broken.
To fix the windows side bar it should be as easy as going to Control Panel, Windows Sidebar, un check the load at start up at the top and hit ok, restart.
That's all i did I think and it never comes back!! -

I just disabled it in Vista the first time it came up. Is there seriously a problem with this not working?
-
Hmm... so this means you must have been napping with your notebook?

Yes, I've been using those online webcam chat sites now that I have a webcam. All of the girls on there are so promiscuous.
So I fell asleep, and knocked over my G50V-A2...
