So I noticed my local Best Buy no longer carries the G50Vt-X5

I went into my local Best Buy today to buy the new Chickenfoot cd and took a quick looksee through the computer dept. and I noticed the G50Vt X5 was no longer on display and no other model was in its place. I asked one of the salesreps about it and he said it was no longer being sold. Huh. It's still on their website though. Strange.

 

Probably clearing out stock before they bring in the G51.

 

Exactly, not strange at all lol. I had pretty much thought this was going to happen (even before the G51 was announced) which is why i bought myne in such a hurry. Sure enough local stores did get another shipment and ours still have them so far.

 

So so sad =/ Can't wait to see the bestbuy G51 specs.

 

Yup! seems like they are discontinuing this version( G50) it's only a outlet item now and only available from old stock at stores.
As long as the BB version comes with the 260 GTX that's good enough for me.
Upgrading the CPU is a pretty easy and painless.
If the BB version ever does come out I truly hope it DOES NOT come with a similar graphics on the lid.
The only reason I never got a BB version of the G50 was because of the really stupid looking lightning bolt pattern on the lid ( really that's the only thing that held me back from buying one, I could live with every other thing)
Quick story:
I wen't to BB quite a few times to actually purchase this laptop but every time I laid my eyes on this laptop I vomited in my mouth, It truly is hideous.
I know looks are subjective but for me the fusion finish graphic design was a deal breaker.
C'mon lightning bolts! they couldn't come up with something better.
I would be ashamed if anybody seen me with this laptop.
Here's hoping the BB version that comes out will have something a little more understated and palatable.
And I am just assuming that BB will have the G51 considering they have had the G50 models in the past, but in all reality I have no real info. of the G51 coming to BB just making a educated guess that the natural progression will be for them to carry the updated model of one of there better selling laptops.
If it does only come in White as I have seen in some forums, that would be OK with me.

 

lol I personally like the design on the bb G50, many people like it and many are disgusted by it, its not a neutral design. You either like yellow on black or you don't. I wonder what the price will be.

 

ya i like the lighting bolts and also the lights to pretty much one of the reasons i bought it even every buddy that sees it like it to

i went for the specs more tho because i needed a more powerful gaming laptop but love the looks to

i also love the sparky coating they have on the keyboard seems like it does int wear down like my other laptops got shiny spots on the keys from my fingers... but been using this laptop for about 2months and no wear

 

Just picked up my G50vt-x5 at BB yesterday. They still had many in stock

 

Went to the next closest store to me, same results. No more G50-X5. Nothing in its place either. I asked salesreps if they knew anything about G51, and of course they didn't. Nothing showing up in their system yet.
I was lucky I ended up getting my X5 for $749, seems like it's usually $899!

 

Well there is a little thing on the website for seeing what stores near u have it let me check myne... Says limited availability, 3 of the 6 stores that had it still do the one i picked myne up and whom had it on the floor a day ago is showing out of stock.

 

I just bought mine for 899.99 last week, now it's a outlet item for 849.99

 

Oh, I know, you're right. SOME stores, evidently, are still getting some stock. The ones closest to me are NOT anymore. They have removed the display and info even.

 

The only ones that still have them here NOW are the ones that got their restock shipment, I will keep checking (checking now).... Didnt say outlet item last night someone mentioned it, now it does. Down to 2 of the 6 stores that had them.

Well in the next couple of days low volume stores will be the only ones with them left.

 

When something gets to be an outlet item it means they are getting rid of old stock.
That's great news for us, they did the same with the X1 model and updated with the X5 relatively quickly, so hopefully they will at least have some info. of it coming soon.
If I had to guess I'd say end of the month or early July.

 

The outlet items from what I hear are actually the refurb pile. What you can still pickup in store is new though. 50 bucks off is nice too lol.

But yeah Other then resellers with B1's and old stock like the X6 the G50 is going bye bye.

 

It was great while it lasted, but this new model looks incredibly good, backlit keyboard with chicklet style keys and most of all the 260M GTX in a 15"/16" chassis. Fantastic!

 

Im sorta glad they came out with a 16 inch. I want to move up just a little, I was gonna say whatever replaces the G71 in a couple of years but i realized that would be bigger then my cooler, it would fit but i bought the zalman with a 15.6 to 16 inch in mind.

 

I should probably start a new thread for this, but I got word from a fairly reliable source the BB version of the G51 has the low resolution we all don't care for.

 

No you shouldnt as theirs already 3 G51 threads and ill personally smack u lol.
