LOL just like my thread about the EEE 1000H vs N10 where they have a hybrid model of the two in the works possibly... Well guess what??

Another new EEE model! yay! The EEE 1002HA, This one looks pretty much confirmed in stone and its the most sexy EEE to date in my opinion.

    http://translate.google.com/transla...le-eeepc-1002ha/&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=auto&tl=en

Think S101 but cheaper, better looking, and with a hard drive! Perfect for me!

Except the small battery :( thats probably a deal killer for me if I was on the market and did not already have the 1000H with 7 hour battery life that I love.

Id love to have this at a business meeting, so small and so professional and provocative all at the same time.

Do I see brushed aluminum palmrest AND screen cover? Or maybe it's just plastic finished to look like that... if it's aluminum I may buy this just because of that... even though I don't need this machine. I find it difficult enough every weekend not to cross the street to the computer shop and buy the 1000H :-S :D

On another note, my head is already spinning with the ASUS netbook line... and this new one doesn't help. :)

The 2-cell really just doesn't cut it. Bump it to a 6 cell and you've got yourself a sweet netbook. Although, all the extra bells and whistles, imo, aren't really necessary on a low-cost laptop.

I hope there will be at least a 6-cell option for this.

ViciousXUSMC, since you seem to be keeping up with the neverending lineup of ASUS netbooks, would you consider writing up a brief comparison on them, like you did with the G50 vs M50 a while ago? :) (1000H, N10, S101, this one, EEE 900, whatever else). That may be quite helpful to some people. Including me. :D

The 2 cell is actually equal to the 4 cell, it is a higher quality battery. I still love the my current 6 cell, nothing like 5 hours of battery. This new 1000 does look nice, but $600+ after taxes and shipping is a bit much. But I do agree, it is dam sexy. EBE, the one to have is the 1000HA. Spend the money saved on the H and buy a 5300 + an extra wifi antenna. If you need bt, then grab a mini usb dongle. If I would have waited a week, that is exactly what I would have done. I don't use bt and a 5300 + 1 more antenna makes this kickass.

The 5100 is good too and just will plug right in. Going with the 1000HA lets you have white or black so thats nice.

I really really need bluetooth so the 1000H was a better fit, we have confirmed the header is there on the mobo for the internal bluetooth on the HA and we have the part # for the card but nobody has really tried to see if it will all work out yet and installed one to transform the HA --> H.

I do think since its on the other side of the mobo that there is a seal you have to break. So its not worth it unless your confident that you do not want/need a warrenty.

The Dongle is an ok idea, but by the time you buy the 5300 & BT Dongle your up to the price of the 1000H or higher (its only $50 difference, the 5300 itself can go for that much) and I personally due to the nature of ultra portability do not want anything sticking out of my EEE unles it has too, I wont even leave the Nano dongle in mine.

As for the write up, yeah thats a good idea and I would enjoy writing it. Just matter of finding the time. we lost 3 people at work so I am working 7 days a week, we have been sold out consistantly due to the new mall that opened down the road, and on the nights I am training new people I have no downtime to get on the forums.

At home I hardly ever get to do anything as I am watching the kids, or trying to get some sleep.

As for the battery on this model, yes its a 4400MaH vs 6600MaH so its probably a 33% loss of battery time not 66% like 6 cell vs 2 cell makes it sound.

I remember something from the Eee Forum stating that the BT header on the 1000HA is active and works. All you need to do is eBay one of those cheap Dell Bluetooth 360's or another brand with the same header-cable and voila! You have Bluetooth! No need for an ugly BT USB dongle taking up a precious USB port!

    Cheers,
    Kermee

Yep, the point was adding the bluetooth most likely voids the warranty.

Thanks for considering the writeup, ViciousXUSMC. Only if you have the time, and only if it's fun to do it. ;)

That is good information. Now I wish I got the HA and I could have done some modding :p Even with all these new models, I still love my H, it is just constantly surprising and a perfect mobile companion. I used to be the ultra nerd, PDA and cell phone, now I have the centro + the 1000H, not as bad but definitely better. One of the awesome things I have found is that I can leave the 1000H in my car and not worry bout it getting stolen as it can be hid way easier than my old rig. I don't make it a habit, but it makes me feel a bit safer. :D

I got my 1000H out for RMA today finally hopefully it will be back soon.

I hope they somehow send me a white 1000H even though it does not exsist, black is probably better but white just is different so it still appeals to me.

This 1002HA by far is the best looking though, id probably be willing to "upgrade" to this one if I was not already so happy with the 1000H.

I am surprised to see that at least with these early photo's they have yet to fix the right shift key issue, since thats one of the main complaints about the EEE you would think they may fix it. But I guess they already have a ton of the other ones and have an easy means to make them.

    Yeah I broke it :p

The unit is fine and it was totally my fault for trying some advanced bios mod stuff.

Hehe, but what fun would it be to not to it. I hope you will still try it, you posts are always great and server as detailed references. HP just released more info on their new 10" wonder. Seems to be a 1000H/HA killer with the proposed 400 dollar price tag but lacks hdd speed, wireless level, etc. Cannot wait for that discussion :D
