    Well when a hard drive is formatted, it has to create allocation tables etc (or something like that), that gives your HD addresses for each readable/writable 'unit'.

    I haven't really formally tested anything.. sorry about that, I'm just insanely busy this weekend with school stuff, but I wanted to say that I defragmented the HDD and the entire time the hottest the CPU or HD temp got was 52 degrees (measured by NHC). and with NHC's acoustic management, the only problem that really bothered me- the HDD sound, is now gone. Fan is never loud, ever, so far, and things are cool with a teeny amount of warm air coming out of the vents. Lovely machine.
