But i don't know whether to purchase it or not. I'm going to buy it for my brother who is awaiting deployment, and is sitting around doing nothing, as a means of communication through games chat etc etc. I'm looking mostly for a good overall "everything" system but mostly for gaming/music/whatever else /multitasking. Anyways, right now i'm looking at all the options, and what company to purchase it from. At the moment it's a pretty big investment for me and i want to get him the best possible laptop for the best possible price. I've heard a lot of good things about C90s's, but then again i've heard a lot of good things about others such as Sager, Dell etc etc. I've heard about different Bugs they have, but i wanted to talk to people who actually had experience with them rather than just asking the general population. Has anyone owned other laptops that they'd be able to compare it to? At this point, any kind of information can help.

    Thanks

Edit: oh yea, is there a version that comes with a 17" screen?

Well depending on his MOS and unit, I would get something that can withstand heat and dust. I don't know where hes getting deployed to(Iraq?), but when I was in you were constantly moving(then again infantry marines don't stay in one place much). Make sure you spend a few bucks and buy him a decent laptop cable lock as well. Also consider an extra battery and adapters for various power plugs.

c90s has no bugs when you buy a complete system from a reputable vendor. all the bugs reported here are mostly from people who purchased an incomplete system or their system was not properly tested.
If youa re looking for a laptop for deployment to iraq i would explore othe roptions like the g1a or even something smaller in the same price range. asus has alot of models to choose from

Well, originally he wasn't going to take it with him. But we're still somewhat undecided on that. What would a good reputable vendor be? I've heard a lot of good stuff about gentech but getting other opinions wouldn't hurt either.

    thanks

Ed, would this be a good time to say that even if your not meaning to step on anyones toes, as of late you've been stepping on quite a few including your own customers.

Besides his manners, he's actually pretty good. Geared2play.com or BTOtech.com (same site, aka Eddie). Another good one is, http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/ which would be Gentechpc.com (aka Ken) both of which are on this forum for you to bug with your questions and are fairly friendly.

I am not a kiss ass on this forum or any other. Never was never will be. you dont have to tell me i have quite a few people that hate me here. Really does not matter to me as none are our customers. i am not here to make fanboys and i frankly dont want any. i leave that job to other vendors. I tell it like it is. i have no interest in making new friends. I have plenty of friends here that know me by name and reputation which is not known to most here. I like to keep it that way. :)

*psst* Brooklyn, NY so you know its all an act, he's got a really big heart and just luvs people who ask him lots of questions or just talk to him, really :p

Asus and Sager are my personal choices for gaming. I own a Asus C90S personally and I have to say its given me a bit of problems (installed OSes and drivers myself), but most of which have by this time worked out in pre assembled systems like from BTOtech.com and GentechPC.com. I'd say unless your really comfortable screwing around with your own system and don't mind doing clean installs, go for a pre assembled and pre installed, alot less headaches that way.

Avoid Toshiba if you can, I've gotten so royally screwed by them my ass still hurts. The only thing that saved me from the black gimp suit was I bought it from Costco and I was over the 90 day return too and they still took it back.

I love the C90s, but if he's taking it out in the field at all, maybe a preassembled one trick type notebook like the Asus V1S or G1s-B1. extra battery and travel accessories, good travel case and put the ram right the first time :D btw, I too can personally recommend Gentech (ken) to take care of you. I'm sure BTOtech is good too. They both take the time to post here which says something.
