Wasn't there supposed to be an official announcement today with specs, etc for the new Eee 1218? I haven't seen anything yet.

Thank you for making this thread, I've been asking myself that all day. I mean the 1218 was THOUGHT to come out today. But where's all the ones that were CONFIRMED for today??? Anyone got anything?

Asus didn't mention any netbook yesterday unfortunately. If you check here you can see what they did annouce (U33JC bamboo).

Yea, I was too was hoping for some new information on the Eee 1218. Maybe ASUS didn't make their deadline?

I too was wondering...
I think Engadget was the only place saying May 13th was the release.

Here's my theory: the 1218P is said to be built with the new Atom N4X5 series of cpu's. Intel has not officially debuted those chips yet, thus Asus is unlikely to announce much about the 1218P until that happens.
Current rumor (with very widespread agreement) is that Intel will announce the Atom N4X5 series at Computex the first week of June and that a number of companies will also be announcing their latest devices using that new chipset. Therefore hopefully Asus will finally announce a release date and pricing for the 1218P at Computex.
I hate waiting longer to buy a netbook, but I can't imagine settling for what's out there now knowing this little beauty is just around the corner! -

The N450 and N470 were available in January. The 1218P will likely have either a N45 5 or N47 5 chip. Those were only recently announced and are not yet available. The N455/475 are nearly identical to the N450/470 except that they offer DDR3 support.
