Hey guys. So, I did a bit of experimenting. I upgraded my G1S ATKHotkey and ACPI driver to the ones available for the G60. Well, turns out that they work perfectly, except for one small issue. The 2D onscreen display works for volume and everything else besides changing power states with P4G.

Well, turns out that the ATKOSD.exe that is installed with the latest ATKHotkey has some problems. The solution is to install the latest ATKHotkey and replace the ATKOSD.exe with the ATKOSD.exe that gets installed with the ATKHotkey for the G1S.

This will work for any ASUS notebook since the ATKHotkey merely interfaces with the ATKGeneric Function Service. The ATKGeneric Function Service is what affects what buttons do what, but you need to have both ATKGeneric Function Service and ATKHotkey for any of your buttons to work.

    Hope this helps.

If need be, I can upload the ATKOSD.exe that works properly.

I'm posting this because I could not find any solution to this problem and it seems like it affects the newer generation notebooks, which have the newer drivers/apps listed.

Installing ATKOSD2.exe is not a viable fix since it interferes with window focus when playing fullscreen games or watching fullscreen videos. Also, almost all versions of ATKOSD2.exe seem to suffer from memory leaks (around 5 MB at start and slowly increases to 50 MB or more).

I appreciate the information! By the way I'm a new owner of an ASUS K42JC model and just started tinkering with the power4gear by pressing the Fn + spacebar shortcut occasionally to have the laptop adjust to what I'm doing (by the way I'm using Windows 7 Home Basic). Suddenly one day when I switched the laptop on I can no longer see the power4gear Icon in the system tray (tried to reactivate it, but every time i restart the laptop it just won't work: I'm getting a message though the this power4gear will be activated once it's one, still no luck after several attempts to activate the icon in the system tray). Now every time I press the shortcut Fn + spacebar I can no longer see the 2D icon on screen, though pressing it still changes power4gear system. I'm not sure what I did before, just wanted it back to its original settings so I wont get confused if I'm using the quite office, battery saving etc., and won't have to go the long way of clicking the power4gear icon just to change the settings...

    I would appreciate any response!
