hello everyone.
i am new here, but i have been lurking for a while trying to do some research. i will be off to Business School this Fall and need to get a laptop. right now i use a X60 Thinkpad for work and i was thinking about getting the X61 for school. my amigo works for IBM and has a EPP # that i can use.
i really like the size & weight of the X60 but the lack of an optical drive is a problem. the colour reproduction & quality of the screen also get to me sometimes. i considered the T61, but the offset screen and size rub me the wrong way.
i am considering a W7S as an alternative and i wanted to know about the quality of the notebook. can it stand up to the daily use and abuse of grad school? what about warranty help etc. since i am not taking the school laptop bundle (Dell D620 for $2000+) i will not have access to loaners, so i need something durable.
what about the keyboard? i am spoiled by the X60 keyboard. how does the W7S stack up against it? so you know, i have a desk top, but the laptop will be my new best friend. so i want something that i can use to watch my Top Gear episodes etc, surf the net, build spreadsheet models, listen to music & maybe play StarCraft (for nostalgia).
also how well does the white one hold up? wear & tear wise? does anyone have any realworld pics? and finally, where are the best deals?
Thanks,

The w7s is a very fine laptop, but if you can wait I think the notebook for you will be the V2S, which will be released around the end of july. It is a
14.1" powerhouse whose series (V) has been known for its rock solid build quality. It won't have the battery life of the Thinkpad (it will be around 3 hours I believe), but it is definitely one to look at for business school.Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
I wouldn't compare the two, the W7s will not be anything like the X-series or T-series at all. Don't expect much from the keyboard, it's decent, some flex - depends on how hard you press the keys though.
The build is decent, though you may find it a bit fraile as it feels a bit hollow, compared to the often solid Thinkpads.
