Would one be able to purchase this dvi cable from somewhere else or does it need to be purchased from asus.

You can use a standard HDMI to DVI cable.

Ack, sorry about posting that pic with my wild speculation! I guess a latter ad-on 3G card would be too good to be true. But, what's that slot for then? I looks too small to be for the ram, unless I've forgotten how small sim cards are.

Since there's so much confusion about about the 3.5G modem, here are its frequency specs. It's a Sierra Wireless MC8775 *embedded HSDPA module* that is compatible with the 900/1800/1900MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 2100Mhz WCDMA/HSDPA wireless protocols.
Given that Justin did not remember seeing an external antenna, it's probably not something a user can add or remove from a system. The Nokia HSDPA modem that it was co-developing with Intel for inclusion in the Santa Rosa platform, an initiative now dropped, was also going to be a module.

Anyway, let me look into it, I now need to clear this mini-DVI confusion up.

Edit: What I'm trying to get across is that u-DVI is nothing but HDMI w/o the audio. Since the video part between HDMI and DVI are the same all you need is a cable. HDCP is not an issues since both HDMI and DVI can be wrapped in HDCP. -
Agree on the second part. -
EDIT: I hope this wasn't already stated somewhere earlier, but I just wanted to clarify for myself. Obviously you could still use an EV-DO network card if you bought it and bought the V2J correct? -

loopty and Ubercool are correct.
The u-DVI is just a Video only port, the quality is equivalent to the DVI port. So for those who have HDMI cables, just use them instead of buying more cables. However you will still need to use the SPDIF jack for sound.
Yes the V1JP does have a u-DVI to DVI cable (adapter) which allows you to use external DVI screens.
The V2 should also come with this particular cable.
And yes if you purchase the V2 without 3G (3.5G) then you will want to look into getting an ExpressCard to use this technology.
