    Hi

I'm interested in buying G1 or G2 (but it is too big , I think) and I hv some questions for u (second one is the most important for me):

    1. does G1 hv a card reader like G2 ?? (SD etc.)
    2. can anyone post high-resolution photos of g1 closed ?? (I mean how it looks generally, when it's closed, and you look at it). G2 is looking so good with its metal-looking-like parts, so I'm not sure about G1. I hv read many reviews, but photos there weren't the best ones...
    3. does G1 with santa rosa gonna hv PC Card Slot, or ExpressCard?
    4. I can wait till end of a year - so is it good to wait for penryn?
    5. I'm using Miranda-IM. Will I be able to read my messages on LED display? and are there any third-part programs to work with that display?

    thanks in advance
    Klimer

    1. Yes it does. For SD card and Memory stick

    4. Always something new coming out. Penryn looks good on paper but who knows. The G1 is very good. I would wait for a review of the G1s and then decide.

    Rest no idea sorry.

    2. Have you seen the many reviews of the G1 on this site? Many home grown pictures of the G1 are here if you dig around.

    4. If you can wait to buy, wait. When you need to buy, buy. It really is that simple. There is always something better coming just round the corner, so you buy when you need and know that it's the right time.

    5. The LED is not easy to change the usage of unless you are a) very clever b) l33t haXX0r. So no.

All ASUS notebooks(and majority of notebooks today anyways) have at least a 5 in 1 media reader, capable of reading SD, Memory Card Pro, etc.

There are tons of G1 pictures in this forum, though you'll need to search for it.

I'm 90% sure it'll be ExpressSlot as PCMCIA is dying out.

As mentioned, waiting = always good.

The OLED display can probably be manipulated into showing other things, however, how to, won't be easy.

Is this just pure speculation, or did you find some information on this?

I don't think that asus have relaesed details on whether the g1s will have an express card slot so i am guessing that it is speculation. However pcmcia is becoming outdated and as already stated, they would most likely be released with the express card slot.

If someone finds out for certain, please confirm.

Well, it's speculation, however, with the market populated with ExpressSlot(I have yet to see one without), it would be pretty stupid to release the G1s with a PCMCIA card.
