Adopted my first "white baby" from Proportable. Got it on Wed. Love it. Nice build. One of my cats sat on it, no sweats. Keyboard is nice too. My friend got a Fujitsu P1510D which is a very nice machine too, but I can tell, she is starting to envy me.

Have a few questions though:
1) Bluetooth setup with the Kensington BT mouse that comes with the unit:
Used the BT connection wizard. Able to recognise the mouse (as "Bluetooth Travel Mouse), but failed to register it to the system. Not sure what I did wrong.
2) tosOBEX ???
Everytime I shut down the laptop, a dialog box shows up saying that "tosOBEX" is still running, and asked if I want to "End Now"? I usually click it. Can anyone tell me what this program is used for? Is that anyway I can deactivate it? Will it do any harm if I deactivate it?
I actually spoke to Asus US tech support (with my 80% fluent Mandarin).
On Q1, he asked me to give him some time to research, and will get back to me afterwards.
On Q2, he is not familiar with the program, and said I must have installed some software that triggered it. I'm not so sure about that because I only installed Firefox, MSOffice, Adobe Acrobat 6, Photoshop, Trend Micro PC-cillin, Ad-aware, Spybot, AVG, google talk, real arcade. Anyway, I let him go and just focus his efforts on Q1.
Any assistance from the forum is much appreciated. Thanks.

Well, you should start uninstalling those programs one by one (first the easiest to reinstall) untill you find whats wrong. This problem wasn't there before you installed those programs?
-
I just googled "tosOBEX", and found that it is related to "Toshiba Bluetooth Stack". Not sure what it means. It just doesn't seem to relate to any of the programs I installed.

Go to Start > Run > and type msconfig.
Then go to startup, and see if you can uncheck tosobex from starting up. I'm not exactely sure what it is, but clearly it has something to do with the internal bluetooth adaptor.
I'm interested in the W5F, but I want to make sure it can play HiDef video. Can you go to http://www.apple.com/trailers, and see if a 720P movie trailer will play without skipping? -
The link you provide requires Quicktime plugin which I haven't installed at the moment. Don't want to install anything additional until I figured out the solutions to my problems. Sorry. -
Not sure what's the normal turnaround time but Asus tech support didn't call me back. Guess I probably have to wait over the weekend till Monday.
Meanwhile, I would greatly appreciate if anyone in the forum can shed some light regarding my problems. Thanks. -
Asus Tech Support got back to me today, and my problem is now solved. I'm posting my solution below, hoping it may benefit other users who may encounter similar problems in the future. Unlike most of the Asus forum members, I'm not computer savvy at all, and it can be frustrating if one got stuck.
The guidelines Asus provided (attached) gave me some tips which led me
to look into Device Manager. I believe the problem stemmed from the drivers, and did a "re-install" for the following:
1. Human Interface Devices
----> Bluetooth HID port
----> HID-compliant device
2. Network Adaptors
-----> Bluetooth Personal Area Network
After above actions, the BT connection between the laptop & the mouse
went successfully.
The TosOBEX problem also disappeared.
And I'm now one happy Asus customer again.Attached Files:
