I've noticed that colors, especially black, look sort of grainy on my W3J. I don't know if this is normal, so I just wanted to check with others. You can only tell if you look at it very close. It looks normal when you look at it from regular distance. I don't know if has something to do with the viewing angle. Does this happen because of the XGA resolution? Cuz this doesn't happen on my older Dell Inspiron 8100 with SXGA. Please let me know.
Oh and for some reason, this does not happen at ALL on the default Asus background that is black. I don't know why.
Thanks.

by grainy do you mean pixely? xga is not sharp compared to sxga. there is also grainy look to solid colors on some lcd monitors. but the closer you look at the screen the crappier it looks its normal.

i'm not sure how else to describe it. grainy is the "perfect" term i guess. no its not really pixely.. its just grainy. i've been reading around and have found that a lot of laptops monitors have this. i dont really have a problem with it..i just wanted to make sure that its normal.

Do you mean grainy as in blotchy with different kinds of colours or grainy in terms of gray specks? I think that's due to the internal reflection of the screen. There is always (in any TFT panel) a degree of internal reflection, regardless of how much anti-glare coating is put on by the manufacturer. This goes to glossy and matte screens.
In (very) rare cases, the speckles are really dark when viewing your screen from side to side, then dust might plague behind your screen. This happens more often in cell phones though. -
Mine is grainy too. But only at certain times.
If I tilt the screen back more than it should be, I see a really grainy, ugly picture.
However, when its properly stood upward, It looks fine.
Some things look kind of grainy on the W3J?
