I've been using my Z84j for more than 1 month now. The system performs great.
However, I've been experiencing some weird lagging of the system or i can say it's a " 30secs Freeze" of the computer.
For example, I'm doing daily task such as web browsing, music, browse pictures, then suddenly the system just froze for no reason. The sound audio also buzzing like a scratch cd. When it freeze, i can't activate any Ctrol Alt Delete or use the mouse. It only happens for 30 secs or less but this really worries me. After that freeze time, the system works again. I've noticed this problem starts to occur on my system for more than 2 weeks now. Before , it was very rarely freeze , but now it freeze for 3 times in 1day already.
I wonder what piece of hardware would cause this or software?
Also, I need your help in using which software to do a full test on my HDD. I suspect it's a HDD problem, because I often access large amount of datas such as 300 pictures files in one folder or move from folder to another folder in Windows Explorer, the systems sometimes lags. Is it because of 160gb hdd is too large , which takes more time to read files??. I'll run Memtest on my Ram soon.
Another issue , very small and i can ignore it, is that my screen often flickering at very small amount which I focus on reading text. Its flickering is like a screen calibration on LCD monitor. Is that the screen error or the video card error?

Well I think your problem is with the hard drive, it's not unusual for a system to pause somewhat when transferring large files, 300 pictures is quite a bit. If they are in Bitmap form then thats a decent file transfer size and would cause the system to lag somewhat. If this isn't the case and it still lags randomly I would first just try reinstall and see if that fixes the problem.
If that doesn't fix the problem then atleast you know that it could be hardware related and should probably send it in to be looked at.
If the LCD is flickering at random intervals for no apparent reason then it is more than likely that you have a faulty/ damaged LCD inverter as they will show those exact symptoms.
If I were you and found that a reinstall of the OS didn't fix anything I would definitely send it in to be repaired and mention to them your exact problems. -
use hdtune to test out your hd. have you checked what programs are running when this happens?

I don't feel like send back my barebone for RMA... that's just a waste of time and money , but its the only option. Well, I'll do some test before i get to final conclusion.

With regards to your freezing, even others have reported similar instances, on other laptops. I suggest doing a full virus and malware scanning, defrag aswell. Is your hard drive NTFS 4k?
Lets assume your hard drive is clean of viruses and malware the next thing is to assume another process running in the background causes this. Also are you testing on battery or with the AC plugged in? Or does this happen on both?
Your screen flickering could be your eyes adjusting to the refresh rate, you may want to connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if the same happens. Otherwise reinstall the video card drivers. Or how about this, uninstall the graphic drivers and let windows use it's drivers, and see if it flicker.
Basicaly, uninstall the drivers, restart computer, go into windows, maximize the resolution to what ever windows allows and then start reading text and whether it exhibits the same flickering as your mentioned.
And yes run those tests to ensure this may or may not be a hardware problem.
