I'm currently living in a tent in the middle of the desert in lovely Iraq (Marine Corps) and I brought my Asus G1 with me for the deployment. I guess a fellow Marine couldn't find the owner for the AC Adapter that was plugged into his power strip and decided to just throw it away...which really pissed me off.
I'm trying my best to find another adapter that might work. Does anyone know of another brand that might work? I might be able to hit some PX/military store the next time we hit a decent base but the chance of them carrying an Asus brand adapter is slim. If I have to mail order something, which place do you recommend that will ship to a military FPO address?
Also, is there any specs (like power/amps, etc..) that I need for it to work on my G1?
Thanks

Would this fit the socket on your PSU. It is the standard C5 plug / socket used for the majority of notebook PSUs and is available as a standard part. I suspect that someone thought it would be useful to have a second mains cable for their own PSU.
Some PSUs use this C7 two pin connector.

PS: Did you mean the complete adapter as well as the power cord. In my past experience Asus uses a standard power plug and it is most likely rated at 19V, 4.74A (this should be on the label on the bottom of your notebook). If so, then the third party PSUs which have a selection of plugs will, most likely, have one which fits. You might even be able to source one locally. -
Oh boy... costs $60 from Asus.

That suxs, actually my girlfriend is a teacher and they have like 14 laptops, she brought home a power cord for summer break, the thing was......it was not hers, but it still worked, as long as the voltage and amps - & + points are the same you would be good to go.
Another good idea is getting one of these.

A nice 120w power suppy which powers my 90w W3J just fine, it comes with a range of tips N3 fits my W3J and F3J, best thing is.... it can be powered buy both 12v DC and 100-240v AC, which means you can power it from a 12v vehicle cigarette lighter or a mains wall plug.
dont know if you have many accessible cigarette lighters on military vehicles, but its another option if youre on the move, and you can buy more tips to power other devices like cellphones PSP's IPods etc
Multipurpose and might be more accessible than an Asus part in your neck of the woods. -
The adapter for my G1 has output ratings of 19 volts and 4.74 amps. I would suggest Targus or other general adapter. If shipping to APO/FPO is a problem, I suggest www.shipitapo.com, I use them frequently and have never had a problem.
I understand you issues, I am over here in Kuwait. Keep up the good fight. -
lol $60?
I bought my spare for $15 Canadian
Someone threw away my Asus G1 AC/power cord
