I have a W7J and got sound working in Windows 7 by downloading the high definition audio driver from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ . Make sure you have run Windows Update and have all the latest updates as well. You may also need to start the install process by right clicking on the installation .exe and selecting Run As Administrator.

Hmm, well that's weird. When you installed the driver, did you make sure you had first removed the previous drivers you tried to get working?

When you go into device manager, do you have any warnings next to your audio hardware?

yea it's strange. yes i removed previous driver from device manager. no warnings on audio hardware, but if i update my driver to latest realtek version no sound. when i'm rolling back to default win7 driver it has sound.

now i'm back to vista sp2, audio working with driver from asus website. and same problem again. if i update my driver to latest version, no sound again.

really strange and weird. anyone face the same problem? is it hardware problem or drivers problem?

If sound works with the Win7 driver, why not use that?
